Why don't you choose a fabric with more visual interest? Basically everything is more interesting than a solid poplin. How about a self pattern, a dobby, end-on-end? Even an Oxford would be less boring than poplin.
Sounds still extremely short. The cuffs are intended to be turned back, so at least 2" less. I like their stuff, but I couldn't wear it. I would need a size 40 with 27" sleeves. I don't see that happening even with wetting and stretching the sleeves.
