He makes repros like other makers too and pretty much uses the similar hides/hardware/lining but I think his stitching is a little more advanced (similar to GW without the wait time)

Theres plenty of threads on Badalassi just look them up
I love JL, they are local to me and will be my go to US based maker. We all know about GW/vanson/Schott/Langlitz et al but the most interesting to me is Dave Sheeley
It's different but the shaft is not really noticeable under jeans so it's not so conscious alarming to wear. I'll post better photos to get you really thinking haha I just placed an order for Motor dress engineer hand dyed brown horse butt boots too as they are currently taking orders for this...
This may not be the leather you are looking for that application, the leather is so packed with oils/wax what have you that it's so rich and it seems like it will only darken with wear. They do have the new midweight horsehide called Kelpie and that will teacore, they have the seal brown Kelpie...
those look great, the red/black combo is so nice and it pairs well with so many of your red jackets. Careful not to drop alcohol sanitizer on them lol it will strip the color like with what happened to my Cigar brown cloe horse butt Chelsea. How do you rate Benzein compared to your Other boots?
Look up the badalassi forum, @AerGuitar has a 1 year old russet board racer. @Robbie79 also has a russet badalassi jacket but I haven't seen him post an update of that in a while now. It looks to me like it darkened a shade or two over that time but still pretty red/orange tinge to me.
them old hard worn HH/Steer chrome tanned jackets from before are truly desirable (still dreaming of a heavy weight Cal CHP padded cross zip like @Leather Walker ), I don't think my cxl repro jackets would get to that level.
I do prefer vegetable tanned jackets for repro jackets because they...
@dudewuttheheck great write up and I just received my black horsebutt engineers from onderhouds so it's great timing. I'll try to post photos tomorrow.
Benzein lace up boots in Maryam T Moro (brown with some gray tones) horse butt. A little similar to my Truman Java Horse butt in color but...
Thanks. Its not so bad but really noticeable when I wear black shirt/jeans. I think your new jacket is more versatile than the cafe racer and you did well designing this.
should have thought of that before too lol my deerskin trucker would have looked a lot better but maybe I'll put mink oil on it or some oil to make the leather look better. Some have reported that before so just wear it and air it out, should be gone in a few days maybe
Sweet! the black goatskin is likely the best leather they offer and that wax treatment really made a big difference. I'm sure future orders will get that treatment and they should make it standard really because the leather is usually on the dull/flat side.
It's doable, I bought a size 38 jacket and had Johnson Leather of San Francisco alter it to a size 36 for $180. Also had a detachable mouton collar added while I was at it.
