Sure, here are a couple quickies. Edit for clarification, the first photo of the sleeves is the whiskey roma on the left, and the ga2 brown on the right. Second is the whiskey roma.
A bit of a late pass, but I have had a couple jackets made with those hides. The GA2 brown is very much motorcycle racing leather, pebbly, not too much character, but very comfortable to wear. Definitely thinner than comp weight. I also have a more recent jacket in the whiskey roma, it's...
Echoing @AeroFan_07 on this one. I have a couple pairs of their boots as well, and they are fantastic, probably my favorite of the PNW builders. But this jacket just seems ill advised to put it nicely. Apparently they also have a line of luxury footwear coming soon. I'd hate to see them turn...
Those look great! Let me know how they work out for you. I'd love another pair of engineers, but don't want to deal with the wesco wait, or the crazy expense on the japanese stuff. Starting to look around for other options, vintage knapps, red wings, chippewas...
Such a cool jacket! I have a comet I had custom made a couple years back, that has the leather reinforced pits. The quilted liner is a weird detail as well, I"ve never seen that on a comet. Great score!
I think you'll be happy with them. I've got mocs from Quoddy, Rancourt, and Yuketen. The quoddys are probably the least structured, super comfortable, but not something you'd want to wear for a long walk, etc.
I'm still really loving it. It hasn't gotten quite as much wear as some of my others as it has the quilted lining, and is quite warm. So I'm wearing it on cool morning dog walks, and such.
I agree it does look a bit different from the swatches. It reminds me of natural CXL more than...
Yes, I have, and it works very nicely on the bike for me at least. Vanson really nails it in that respect, even with the traditional patterns like the comet.
It looks a lot like some of the octagon I’ve seen. The whiskey is a little less red, but there’s also a brandy and a merlot that are darker and redder.
I’ve got a comet in 44, the same as all my other vansons, and it fits, but is definitely a slimmer fit, and more pronounced taper. Probably not a bad idea to size up one for the armored version.
