I also have a bit of a boot problem. Nicks makes a hell of a nice boot. As do the other PNW builders. Nicks does offer a lot Of options for customization, but if you’re new to this I’d go for something pretty standard, a 55 lasted lace upboot like the jobmaster, or ranger, or urban logger...

I have a jacket In whiskey Roma and quite like it. it’s definitely lighter and more pliable than comp weight, but doesn’t feel cheap. Lots of pull up. In terms of feel it reminds me a lot of schott naked cowhide. Vanson Are pretty good about sending samples.
I made the trip a couple times from the Hudson Valley. I think it’s worth it. It’s a cool place, especially if you like leather jackets and motorcycles. They do have some seconds and consignment stuff as well That you don’t see elsewhere.
