Speaking of sick fadez, I have a pair of black jeans coming from CianoFarmer this week. I’d like to keep them dark and crisp for as long as possible. Would a little vinegar and salt bath to fix the color be worthwhile?
Like fish n’ chips?
That looks lovely! My kids gave me a merino t shirt for Father’s Day which impressed me a lot, I think in winter it will get a lot of under-jacket wear.
Pecards is another option, but honestly I would not worry about it. Veg tanned hides will still protect you from a light shower and a bit of water will do wonders for shaping the jacket to your body.
Are you thinking of using a silicon-based waterproofing spray?
I’m not sure it would ‘stick’ and it might be disastrous.
if you really want to try increasing water resistance then I would try a little Obernauf’s LP in a discreet test spot for a few weeks to see how it goes.
If I were trying to waterproof a leather jacket, I think I would either use Obernauf’s LP (the beeswax does an amazing job waterproofing boots, though it can be a bit greasy when first applied) or a Barbour type wax which is designed to really soak into fabric when warm and then set at normal temps.
Interesting discussion about leather jackets and practicality in the rain.
I’ll admit that my love of leather jackets is mostly about how they look, but as far as function goes I’d say they can offer great compromise.
For true rain resistance, modern technical fabrics are hard to beat (that’s...
Sizing recommendations sought: I’m a true 38 and fairly slim with shortish arms. Am I safe ordering the 38/M if I am not planning to wear more than a tshirt under this?
I think I might order one of their N1 deck jackets soon. The trimmer fit is appealing and the price can’t be beat. Unfortunately, the dark brown liner looks to be out in 38, so I may look into some of the resellers who might still have it in stock.
I still have not worn it outside the house, but I’ve probably worn it inside for 3-4 hours along with gently massaging and kneading the leather for a few hours while watching TV.
Exactly. It’s still a very competitive price for an exceptional product. But for those of us who were spoiled with the earlier cheaper prices and shorter wait times, it still stings a little.
Thanks all. I went with full sole, mostly because I am getting a +1 heel for the added arch support and to show off that heel shape - and figured that the full sole reducing the ‘gap’ under the arch might look a little better.
