I live in Oregon, and will actually be driving through the Portland area on Saturday morning. I'll then be passing back through the Portland area the middle of next week (probably Wednesday afternoon). I have Paypal and my wife has Venmo, so if one of those works for sending me funds to pay for...
Thank you for sharing your thoughts on my jacket! By any chance does Tanaka give any info about the jacket that BK is doing a repro of with the raglan sleeves (maker or other info beyond the decade 1930s)? It and mine are so similar that it seems possible they were either different iterations...
Thanks for the info and kind words! Interesting, that Bill Kelso jacket is very similar. I do like the back on mine better; but his three-piece sleeves plus cuffs are nice - probably gives more pre-bend and taper than mine has. And I like the slightly steeper pocket angle on mine as well. I...
Inspired by ton's statement that vintage jackets always exceed the level of joy vs. new for him, I decided to go for it on this 1940s horsehide(?). In fact, I had just recently been thinking about maybe ordering a semi-custom from 5* and was also looking at a couple of very lightly worn ones on...

Too bad it has such short sleeves (22" shoulder to cuff), otherwise I would have snagged it when I saw it a few days ago. Didn't think to share it here. Good call! He's got some nice jackets. Looking at another one of his listings, the Forest and Stream discussed above.
Okay, just got pics and more info. Turns out the main zipper has been replaced with a brass YKK zipper. I assume that drops the value significantly from a collectors' perspective?? Chest zip is original. Liner looks pretty good - missing stitching at bottom front but easy enough fix...
.
Thanks so much for the info tmitchell59! Don't know the make of the zipper. Waiting on close-up pics, so hopefully those will help figure out what zipper, as well as possibly give more insight into the condition of the leather. I'll share as soon as I get anything, and would love to get more...
Thank you SO much to everyone who has given feedback re: the Lanpher, Skinner and Co. jacket I posted about yesterday, and about jacket collecting in general. I've messaged the seller asking for more pics. Here are a couple of others that were included in the original listing.
Will post...
After reading the posts by @tmitchell59 and @Claybertrand I thought you or others might be able to give me input on the following leather jacket I'm trying to decide whether to buy. I have a couple of leather jackets, but they're from the late 60s-early 70s - nothing this old. The seller says...
