So... This is happening. As per usual 5* lighting not the best but it's the skived CXL brown leather.
Anxious to see how this turns out, nervous about the measurements I sent and if it will even come to fruition, and then there's the concern about how stiff this will be.
Nonetheless, this...
Hmm, so it sounds then that it's more unwieldly than Horween CXL? At 2.2mm, we are talking 5oz+ which is alot more than the typical 3oz Horween (correct my math if I'm wrong), one would assume that if we went with a more typical weight that it would be similar to Horween.
That one was pretty much the same one I wore in high school, I think the pocket style was a little different and I had quilted lining, but otherwise same jacket. My older brother handed that one down to me and I wore it throughout high school and college.
It was such a well made jacket, the...
If you peruse the photos Jin posted of his Horween Vermont, I find that the color in his photos is pretty accurate to what you can expect in person. It has a lot of character and depth, a notable step away from anything you'll find at a mall.
Jin, I was wondering if it was a teacore of sorts...
Before you consider CXL, understand that it's like wearing cardboard armor that will eventually break in one day. If you want any sort of instant gratification, go with the other two, I'm sure Damon will echo a similar sentiment. It's very similar to wearing 18+oz raw denim vs ubiquitous stretch...
I found them to actually be difficult to take on and off because they are grippy, relatively speaking of course to a polyester/rayon/etc lined jacket. And I've only tried on Schott unlined jackets.
Well to be fair, the leather makes a huuuuuge difference, like comparing cardboard to cloth. I was astonished how soft and pliable the Vermont leather is, I think largely due to CXL being designed for more hardier applications like bags and shoes and Vermont for actual garments.
Yeah I get that aspect of it, but there's always something else one could work on, or mod for that matter. Heck, detailing my car is a time consuming fiasco.
Yeah there's this romanticism that an all metal car is not durable less fake or whatever, then you realize that modern cars are far more reliable, resistant to wear, etc etc etc. Don't get me wrong I love classic cars, but growing up around them I much prefer modern cars.
Another car I regret not being able to buy back then. Can you believe those things were 24k new when they came out??? Try getting any car these days for that much.
