Hey all - I have a beautiful pair of Lucchese boots up for sale today. These are also up on eBay, so if you are interested, let me know soon.
These are a size 13 D - to be fair, I think Lucchese's run a bit narrow, but YMMV. Lucchese makes some of the best boots available, and these would...
Modern tag sizes are rarely an exact measurement - I think vintge ones tend to be a lot more literal. These days, they are a representation of the size of the user's chest (forgive me if you already knew this). I have a 43.5 inch chest measurement, and generally wear a size 44 jacket. A...
I was watching a Vanson PLU-3 yesterday and I decided not to bid. It went for $350. I actually have a custom brown one on order with Logan's closet, but I still would have liked to buy the eBay one, particularly at that ridiculously low price. Stupid Christmas bills...... :)
I was told in the past that this kind of uneven leather can happen simply because they cannot tell how the leather will crease when the jacket is first made. Perhaps Holly will correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think uneven grain necessarily means that two different types of leather were used.
Jack - Thanks for the pics! I will definitely be ordering a pair of black Wesco's like yours at some point. Hopefully sooner than later - gotta make it through Christmas first!
I wear a large size (13D) so I have never seen much difference between the toe shape in the 9109 (Bump) and 9165...
I just ordered the exact same pair about a month ago - distressed with double midsoles, natural stain, and Vibram 705 composition half soles. I am really looking forward to these.
I have no dog (or horse) in this fight, but I just want to thank Holly for coming out and being so upfront about this. It's not easy to do the right thing, and I see Aero doing an awful lot of this in that last year or so. It's great to see this kind of support for the customers.
It was...
Theoretically, if the spectator option turned out badly, couldn't you just dye the other panels to match and end up with all brown shoes?
I don't think you have much to lose, so do the one you are most excited about.
Injunjack, those are fantastic! I am planning on ordering a very similar pair in the not too distant future - black leather, double mids, vibram 705 soles. What made you choose the fire leather over the standard black?
Also, can you post a pic looking down on the toes? My current pair has...
I am crossing my fingers and hoping that they ease up about it in the near future. I plan on telling Kyle at Baker's that he can have a standing order from me- as soon as they are willing to do two-tone, I will buy another pair. They have a history of custom options with the Smoke Jumper...
John -
I have been meaning to update this thread for a while. Unfortunately, White's has been somewhat resistant to doing two tone boots in the Nomad style. The only way they would make a two tone boot is if they make the toe and heel counter one color and all the straps and upper the...
Not to derail this thread, but what is the issue with Julian's labor choices? I have been very impressed with his work, even if his RRL engineer boots are difficult to put on and take off :)
Edmond - I thought those were yours! Do you mind me using your picture?
Your boots have proved to be the inspiration for my new pair. I am really hoping of a nice contrast between the distressed and red dog leathers.
I am currently finishing up an order for another pair of White's Nomad bootswith Baker's, and poor Kyle has had to deal with my indecision. I was going to go with Natural Chromexcel, but despite how nice the leather is, I felt that it was too soft for my taste. After some thought, I finally...
That's fantastic news, Wade! Are you planning on expanding the sizes to fit larger American feet? Those of us with size 13's always miss out on the cool, high-end, builds (because they are usually for the Japanese market where smaller feet are the norm).
Different strokes for different folks..... I don't want to come off as confrontational, but I can't stand most dress shoes. I much prefer the thick leather and solid construction of a well made pair of boots. Heck, these Thorogoods are a simple enough style that they almost appear to be a...
