Yep, that is a consideration. TBH, Seal color is nearly black from what I can tell so, trying to decide on a color with a different look. I a!so dont want a top coat and the first jacket I got from them has that squeaky topcoat. It is a seal steerhide. I definitely wiill not get that one sgain.- Hobbes1

Hi all. I'm thinking about another jacket from 5*. These are hide options I've been sent by Shawn (pics, not the leather itself). I have a jacket from them in Premium black goat, one in Seal steerhide and one in the "infamous" CHL tan. Can anyone provide any feedback pro/con on any of these...- Hobbes1

I had a recent message from Shawn stating that the CHL thick leather has been "specially treated" to make it easier to wear. I told him mine from just a couple months ago is still fighting me. He says it's better now. Hmmmmmmmm..- Hobbes1

5* CHL jacket I purchased awhile back. The break in process is proceeding along but slowly. I’ve used Obenauf’s Oil treatment and just now URAD applied. Pics are after Obenauf’s and before URAD. Then pics after URAD. The “after” pics are on a hanger as I didn’t want to lay the coat on the bed...- Hobbes1

Does anyone know offhand if there is a “typical” chest measurement for Vanson bomber style jackets for tag size 42? IOW, is it likely to be 21” ptp or more like 23” ptp, etc. thanks- Hobbes1

When is close enough, good enough? What would you do?
Keep this oxford and cancel/change the order. If t his fit is comfortable, keep ot as it looks great! You can live with it and always order a larger size at a later date.- Hobbes1

I started working on mine with Obenauf’s Leather Oil. Will see how it progresses and what color the leather turns out. This is freshly applied and the label says wait 7-14 days for final color result. I’m thinking that if it seems flat after that, I might source some beeswax and try that to...- Hobbes1

I thought CXL was also a heavily wax-impregnated (and maybe other things as well?) hide? I'm not as knowledgeable as many here so could be you are completely right and IDK what I'm talking about :) The WhatsApp method is the best method to contact Shawn but I don't think it's always him...- Hobbes1

@ton312 I've been working it...rolling/folding/bending/wearing/etc. It is more relaxed than day 1 but still would be, for me, unenjoyable to wear out and about.
