I got an email message from Shawn about the mistakes in my jacket saying they are 'small errors' and happen because the photo isn't enough to base a jacket on.
I reminded Shawn that I had specifically asked for the zip to end higher up the jacket (specifying inches) and he had written back...
As you know even if the jackets cost less that $20 in labour that doesn't mean we are dealing with a shocking moral crime. It can be an insular Western assumption that anything made in Pakistan (or wherever non-Western location) necessitates exploitation and other rebarbative practices.
It's a different company that owns the name and the patterns.
Nice people and looks like good value. Jamie the owner posted here a couple of time and I've spoken to him off line.
The jackets are slightly different in detail and hardware. And a way heavier 3.5oz hide. There are two version of...
No need for sarcasm. Combining threads is a common practice here when they deal with the same thing. Five Stars is a busy thread it would not be buried.
Errrr.. no. Thanks for the optimism but it's not what I wanted. This is my third Five Stars actually. I've greatly enjoyed the process to date. The leather is seal brown goat with dark undertone. The word premium is nonsense - all his goat is premium, it seems.
It's odd. Perhaps someone wasn't paying attention to the photos. I did get photos sent before shipping and I should have picked these things. I didn't have my photos to compare and I looked at them on the small screen of my mobile phone so I didn't see the scale or details. So maybe it is my...
I received my Five Stars jacket and it is very well made (a Sears long half-belt copy).
Unfortunately a few details are wrong.
I asked for the belt to be removed so that's fine.
One item I clearly specified and got agreement on so I don't know how this happened, is the zip. The main zip...
I'm not an A2 fan, nor do I own one, and some A2 buffs are total wankers, but there are quite a few people who have posted fit pictures I have seen that make them look pretty cool. I do prefer the G1 but the A2 can and does look good to some of us.
I've said this before but a good Brooks cafe racer to my eye looks superior to any high end Buco or cafe racer knock off from any artisan maker. They aren't all that well made, the leather is thin, the lining synthetic, the stitching often errant, but that's the reason I like leather jackets...
Yep, I said it was around $20 a jacket for the same reason but I also suspect it's less given the average wage of a sewing machine jockey there is probably less 'average' and the overall figure of $500 may be high.
Resale value is irrelevant to me. The key questions are does the jacket work...
I was making a joke (answering Monitor) that for those not into leather a soft 700 gram jacket might be just the thing. The denim jacket was a separate idea i.e., the jacket I was wearing.
Expensive. Some say shoulder width doesn't matter. It does. I know as a 23.5 pit to pit, that anything less that 18.5 in shoulders won't allow me to move properly. I have never set foot inside a gym and I have a slim to medium build.
Do you know your key measurements based on a great fitting...
It's good if you don't like leather.
I'm wearing my Zara (I know, I know) thick black denim trucker - it's a trim cut ( trim arms and shoulders) and so far is impressing me with its quality.
