Carter-- thanks for the thumbs up! Yeah, the hat's a bit floppy-- not a whole lot to be done about it. About the instruments: The guitar was a gift from my uncle. Unfortunately, it lives there in the corner most of the time. The mandolin shaped instrument is actually an old unmarked...
Pendletons are great!
I agree. I only have a handful of them, but they are great for everyday wear in fall/winter. The plaids are great, but they made some really nice solid colored shirts as well-- they're just a little harder to find.

Grey and Brown Tweed Cap
Horsehide Jacket
Shadow Plaid Flannel Shirt
Corduroys
LL Bean Work Boots
This is one of the few practical vintage looks that I can pull off regularly.
I've been wearing this hat for years, and recently my wife commented that it looks too big, what do you think?
Haven't posted in forever...
Nothing too spectacular-- being an elementary art teacher, I usually don't wear much vintage for fear of it being ruined (actually got blue paint on these pants today...) So this is all relatively new, store-bought (except for the hat). I was feeling a bit...
I'm usually not a fan of the pre-distressed look, but those look good-- understated and utilitarian with classic lines.
Right now I want some of these WWII- inspired boots from Red Wing:

Unfortunately, they are out of my price range (and...
Okay, I have to have one of those!
Where did you find that shirt?!!
That's awesome-- But has anybody mistakenly asked you if you're a rifleman yet?...

actual fit?
I've been trying to find some 30's style jeans for a while, too. I'm considering the Lee 101b jeans, but all the pictures I can find are like the one above with people wearing them about 5 sizes too big. Can anybody post a pic of how they really fit?

You are one of my clothing heroes, Dinerman.
About that shirt above-- Did you say you got it at a Ralph Lauren outlet? Was it just one of their regular outlet stores? I have never seen Double RL at any of them. Great find!

Here's how I was wearing my hair about a year ago. The closest it has probably ever been to a 1930's style-- not super long on the sides, but definitely not whitewalls either. The waves are just from how my hair grows and how I combed it. Now it is a bit shorter everywhere.

Help me save my jacket...originally in general attire
Sorry for the duplicate thread-- it was suggested that I move it to here.
Okay, so my favorite piece of vintage clothing is probably my old Hercules horsehide jacket. It gets more wear than just about anything else I own. Anyhow...
Thank you for the advice. The protective patch idea just might work. I hadn't thought of that before. I also had the crazy idea that maybe a good tailor could remove the collar, flip it over and replace it so that the unworn underside is on top. Probably wouldn't work-- just a thought.
I...
Okay, so my favorite piece of vintage clothing is probably my old Hercules horsehide jacket. It gets more wear than just about anything else I own. Anyhow, recently I have noticed that the collar is starting to crack. I have been treating the jacket regularly with Pecards since I got it a few...
Leather Jacket = Versatility
I think my leather jacket is the one piece of clothing that I wear more than any other. I don't put things together quite as as stylishly as the others yet, but here are a few ideas:
For casual, I like old workshirts like Pendletons, etc. with a cap. This pic...
I'm no Ivy League-er, but here are two of mine...
Blue SB. Pretty sure it is a sportjacket because it only has two buttons on each sleeve. Sometimes I think it looks a bit small. What do you think? I know the sleeves need about another inch or so:
And another more modern sb...
Got this from the London Lounge website...
I can't remember exactly, but I think I heard once that the whole sportjacket concept started on college campuses where students mixed and matched suits to be rebellious. Does anyone know if there is any truth to this or did I just dream it up? Of...
Picking up on this thread from another thread...
Those look fantastic! Make me wish I hadn't given away my old Singer. Not that I'd ever be able to accomplish anything quite like that. Good job Lady!
