@ton312 : Yes-- that is a definite improvement. Is the armscye on their HB 11"? Based on measuring my old Hercules, I asked for:
Armscye: 11"
Bicep: 8.5" (although I think 8" might actually be better, though)
Elbow: 7"
Cuff: 6"
Also, thank you for all of the experimentation and sharing you...
Thank you for the natural light pictures, @Hobbes1. That hide looks pretty great! That's the pull up HH, right? A picture of the whole jacket laid out in daylight would be greatly appreciated (or fit pictures in daylight) if you get the chance.
@Canuck Panda -- that is going to be a great...
Thank you for the info, guys. I guess I'll be patient for a few days...
Thank you for posting the swatches. Picking a hide is the trickiest part, I think. My only experience with horsehide is the 1940's Hercules that I've been wearing for the last 20 years. I'm trying to get as close to...
Hey everybody--So, if we want to make a customized jacket, is the current best protocol still to just order one of the stock models off of the site and then wait for an email confirmation to start making the tweaks? I really want to make a jacket based on their HB, but with a few of the...
Wow, you guys are fantastic! Thank you so much for the detailed info! I was thinking maybe Chippewa Falls myself, but didn’t know if they would have labeled it that way. Now that I know a little more about it, I’m even happier to have found it. Just wish people had longer arms like mine back...
So, I just received this in the mail today. I’ve been wanting a vintage wool jacket for a bit, and this one had some interesting features (and it was cheap!). Any ideas on how old it is? Half belt with an unusual shoulder seam design— I guess for more freedom of movement when hunting? Tag...
Thank you for the feedback. I think the lighting isn't helping here. Not sure if it makes it any better, but the vest is actually navy, and there are both navy and red stripes in the shirt. Yeah, I usually don't do black and brown either. Come to think of it, I hardly ever wear any black at...
Thanks guys!
dh: You're actually not too far off-- AVS is a swing dance conference, but that first dance was held at Georgia Tech, so really just a few blocks away from the Varsity restaurant.
Ok-- haven't posted in ages, but here is what I put together for the Friday dance at the Atlanta Varsity Showdown. Ended up sans jacket because of the temperature.
Dobbs hat
Burberry's dress shirt given to me by my step-father
Vintage Brooks Bros. vest
Vintage National Tailoring Co. belt...
Which soles???
So, I've been wanting a pair of SD's for about five years now, and might actually get around to buying some now. Currently, I can't decide which sole configuration to go with, though. The main factors I'm taking into account are comfort, looks, and durability/ease of resoling...
Thanks again for the responses. My Katahdins are 10.5 D and are just a tiny bit tight in the toes-- not enough to really notice unless you're thinking about it, but I was planning on getting 10.5 EE in these just in case. Anybody have both who can compare the fit? I wish I could find pictures...
