For me this is kind of a big deal, as I've never even handled anything higher-grade than hare: my hat size (63) precludes me from almost all vintage hats. The thing that really drew me to Mikael's work was the look of his Fepsa felts that, to my eye, seemed closer to some of the vintage felts...
I picked up that Cidu that HandyMike was selling not too long ago. How to describe it? Sort of a cardboardy feel when you first put it on, but then it feels more comfortable. My son and his friends really like it, and I guess I do too, Really hard to describe. One of the best things about it is...
I just finalized my deal with Mikael at Hufvud. Nice fellow to work with, always responding to emails in no time at all. I decided to go all the way this time and ordered the 100x Beaver. He's doing a Stratoliner for me in the dark moss with a Sahara ribbon and brim binding. Stoked is not the...
I had ordered a shirt from a guy in England, which he mailed to me on April 1. It just arrived yesterday, apparently having been sitting in NY for a month.
I was sitting in a chemistry class in HS staring out the window when I heard my name shouted from the front of the room. "Well," the teacher yelled, "what do we get when we combine these two chemicals?" I looked at the desk in front of him and saw two little piles, one red and one white. "Pink,"...
I just noticed this thread. I keep my eye out on ebay for Frye boots, as I've found one guy who sells new Fryes at a pretty reasonable price. I've gotten a couple of pairs, most recently the Addison buckled engineer boots in Horween leather for $210.00.. You have to be careful, though: I noticed...
Thanks. I sent them an email asking if they were going to make the jacket available again. I like both the natural leather and the design. From what you say above, it sounds like their jackets are much like their boots: not too fancy but certainly functional and affordable. I suppose I'm drawn...
Not really, but thanks very much for asking. I''m working with Mikael at Hufvud on a hat in his Fepsa dark moss and am still playing with the style I want to go with. If you don't mind, I may be referencing the photos you posted: the 6" crown would be a bit adventurous for me, but with a deep...
That hat is blowing me away. As I'm in line with another hatter at the moment, could I ask you what the name of that style is, if there is one? It never fails to amaze me how a particular hat can affect me.
I just saw that 5 Star does a Luftwaffe jacket. Has anyone seen one or heard tell of it over on the VLJ? I see also they they now carry horsehide and an wondering about that as well.
Great outfit, as always. Your black knit tie rings a certain note for me, as for several years I've found one to be an indispensable item for my wardrobe. In fact, over the last few years I've acquired the silk versions in eight or nine colors. They pair well with patterned shirts, sweaters...
I'd go with the advice you've been offered above about Northwest Hats. You'd be getting exactly what you want at a decent price from a reliable, well-known craftsman, and it will be guaranteed to fit and will have a leather sweatband. I don't see how you can do better than that.
Beats being stuck in the cave all day, and there's nothing like a little daily stroll through Paradise. Do you need the mask out there? Just wondering.
