A couple of months ago I walked into my usual store and was reprimanded for not wearing a mask: this sudden change seemed to happen overnight. So I went home and ordered a couple of masks, but when they arrived I found them very uncomfortable to wear, sort of claustrophobic. Then I saw a couple...
Mr. Blake used to perform at my undergraduate college back in the '70s and would stay with friends of mine whenever he was in town. One of my favorite memories of college is sitting around the fire with him and a group of other musicians. Nice to see he's still around.
That was my point, though looking at my posting now I realize that perhaps I wasn't being clear enough: I was referring only to the regular Guatemalan straw used by Sunbody.
Although the Sunbodys are a little heavier and have a cloth sweatband, the ability to just dunk 'em in icewater is a really saving grace on a hot day fishing in the Keys. I don't think I can claim that virtue for any of my other hats.
Fourth. One great thing about Sunbody is that you can call them up and pretty much design the hat you want. A while back I called them and asked for an oak-colored fedora with a 2 3/4" bound-edge brim and they couldn't have been nicer about accommodating me. Plus, the price was extremely...
Nice combination! I fell into a serious houndstooth addiction this past year and now have seven of them. I have one very much like the one you're wearing and haven't decided yet if it looks better with a light or dark brown fedora, or possibly black. Considering the situation we all find...
This has been an on-going discussion on the FL for some time, but I believe that the intensity of the sun's rays is significantly defused as they travel through a small aperture. I too, though, would like to hear from some of our more streamlined members on the matter.
I don't know exactly because I can't afford to run any test cases, but it was raining so hard this afternoon we didn't get any mail delivery. A tropical downpour is a different beast from a spring rain in the northern latitudes. In fact, the one today came with a tornado. I'd imagine a straw...
I was just wondering if you'd tried an Akubra Campdraft. It's an OR and it won't break the bank, plus it'll let you see if you like the look. Great hats as well.
The truly odd thing is that your part of the world is more suitable to a Panama than mine is for the simple reason that for six months of the year we have a daily deluge. It started about two weeks ago and will continue through late October. If I wear a nice Panama or Milan I have to remember to...
Nicely put. After working on Wall Street for ten years I was promoted and transferred to Miami, where, after the market crashed a few months after I arrived, my wife and I found ourselves in a strange city with all of our belongings and no jobs (the firm I worked for got wiped out). My wife...
Hi, Visigoth. Nice find, and good for you that you could find one in your size. Checking out their site I see that they're sold out of most sizes, which often happens to vendors trying to sell Panamas as there are only so many decent straw bodies to go around. I'd avoid rolling it, though, as...
Congrats, Nick. Beautiful jacket - that design always reminds me of the stage at Radio City Music Hall. Does the cream age in the same way as the natural?
I changed my custom order from a Stratoliner to an Open Road for the reason you give here. I have three hemp Stratoliners from Peters Bros. that, while I like the style, I've never liked as much as my Open Roads.
