Yes it does still happen, as it did to one of my relatives. Nearly new car, slight showroom wear etc you can even see the reg plate. Pay up, car on it's way, oh there's the admin fee(extra hehe), car 1hr away and there is a crash so it has been taken back to depot, will sort it all next day...
Best thing to wear with a vintage style motorbike jacket is an armoured vest from Knox etc. The old patterns are not designed for armour so if you do want one it will look lumpy and bumpy, though you could go a size up. I wear a Knox inside an old Eastman Luftwaffe as it is quite a baggy jacket...
I used to collect and build many model car kits. What I did not understand were those that bought them with no intention of assembling these models as the unbuilt model has absolutely nothing positive to admire except maybe the box art. A few spurs of parts put together transform what was once...
Had to look that up Scott.
I have had a couple for sale in the past but like I say, sold them to wannabe Dennis Hoppers, well new age Harley riders at least.
All interesting stuff, many thanks.
Not being a re enactor poses a few questions as I got into these jackets etc before there really was any kind of 40s WWII era stuff going on.
Another couple of questions that cropped up were about the so called "50 Mission crusher". Is this another...
I can't find a topic on the net without extensive searching, maybe someone else can help me out here with some information on service wearing of the A2.
1st
I was asked this question at a military re enactment gathering.
Was the A2 restricted to wearing on base only? Is this correct and simply...
I have no photo's now, but at one time I had a N1 in really bad condition that came from the USS Lexington, sunk in the Battle of the Coral Sea. A friend in my pre internet days pointed out markings on the jacket that were black stencilled, the usual USN on the front and other features on the...
I remember the top flyer and also went to a few do's at The Grand, wearing my original Lucky 7 Seven A2 I would think(Gotta keep it on topic, well sort of). Not sure but I think the Grand is in the process of demolition or has been. The usual land speculators looking at demolishing rather than...
I have used ether and a also acetone in the past, i wouldn't swamp anything in it as it is pretty powerful stuff(Not on an original I may add) then once everything is finished a good dose of conditioner. The leather kind that is not the hair stuff:p
Yes I have an 1965 A65. Up for grabs as I have a new(ish) Bonneville and a Hayabusa. Still a few old Rockers around Southend, not all ride old bikes though and a lot left over from the Pier Bar days. There will always be RnR in some form around Southend on Sea, my old haunt was The Minerva on...
Now thats a dodgy question unless you plan on staying the size you are now forever.
Pop over to the "What jacket are you wearing today" and look for my post with my Lucky 7 Seven A2 in it. When I bought that jacket in 1983 it was a 44 and hung off me but not so much I looked ridiculous. Look at...
Did my Eastman years ago but put the dye in a spray gun. Masked the knits off but touched up the areas around them and the inside by the liner with a brush. Had an aroma similar to creosote for ages :(
Who's the guy in the Ace Cafe T shirt? All the way from Australia to Southend on Sea, Essex...
Stetson Cordele, made in Poland for the European market I am guessing.
I'm at an English Military event this weekend in my original A2 I have owned for the last 34 years. (Also posted in Outerwear)
At Maldon Essex Military show, my Lucky Seven A2.
WoW! Twice this year and in the same month, a new record, during the last 10 years, I could count the number of times it got warn on my fingers.
It used to fit me a bit on the large side, honest:rolleyes:
For those interested, the hat is a...
Tailoring is a funny old thing, there are often reasons for certain designs. As with cowboy boots, they come with pointed toes for ease to get them into stirrups, is that correct? And heels were put into boots to stop the foot sliding forward when putting feet into stirrups. Some folks think the...
I only sell small, low value items on the dreaded eBay. If I buy something for £1-£2-£5 etc I can usually, after fees, double my initial outlay which is a better return than a banks interest. Usually I will have around 10-20 items on the go, not all sell but then I am only an amateur dealer...
Cosmetic I would guess as it can change a plain looking garment to something special.
It can also alter your perception of the jacket or coat. Put an A2 next to a Highwayman and the Highwayman back panel is more stylish in my opinion, but place an A2 next to an A2 with a yoke then the standard...
