Big J, I am sorry but I am no expert and cannot see into the past, but going by old photographs that have emerged lets have a think about it.
The Cafe racer was basically an amateurs representation of a road legal racing bike, most notably a Triumph engine in a featherbed frame, but not...
Hi Big J. For some reason the classiest most luxurious car they make(Lexus?) still just looks like a big Japanese taxi. The Rolls Royce(of old) can never be seen as anything but pure class ;)
Here's me wearing the Connelly Aero with my 'Busa around 6 years ago.
Not the best standard jacket for biking, the suction from the wind pulled my wallet out and lost £80(hand warmer pockets, so add that to the cost of the jacket
:D I guess you are referring to my post on my old jacket I bought on the dreaded eBay. I had put in a max bid straight off at £100 which is what I would have expected to pay. I wanted to try the Highwayman style and the best way was to get a used jacket .
Now I never said I wanted to sell this...
So you are driving along in your Japanese Euro mobile listening to nothing serious on the radio. You casually look in your mirror to keep a tab on things then all of a sudden a tall vertical grill centres on the said rear view mirror, what is it? A massive Silver Cloud that just oozes oppulance...
I have one too, really nice thick hide. I have had it quite a while but remember I got it from the 'Bay. Described as an Aero Highwayman with a question mark in the title I guess many potential buyers were put off it may be a fake. Anyway £43 later and it was mine. A really old un with that...
I really liked this jacket though not really for me, I don't like the pocket on the front. That said it looks terrific until we see the back seam. This seam of course does not mean the quality is rubbish or even poor materials have been chosen, it's just that it does make a saving on production...
Must be one heck of a luggage allowance :) Yes we have it all going on here, snow, rain, frost followed by rain and snow and more rain haha. Just need some snow and a mega wind now and the country will be at a standstill.
I remember the old Aero shop in Battersea(The Thrift Shop) sold American police (non motorcycle) jackets from different state forces. Most were around Teamster length, black horsehide with brass buttons bearing a legend similar to 'Chicago Police Dept' on them to close the jacket. The sides were...
Yes it's gorgeous though I could live with most of the top makers jackets in their various styles. I'd love one sheep lined as its freezing here at the moment.
Aside: I bet there are some on here who would wear that original jacket he used as a template:D
As the cold wind and possible snow, the sheepskins come into their own. I wear my B3 and ANJ fairly often down in the south. I just leave them undone if getting too warm but then I only bought them to wear with a T shirt.
If you were given it as part of your working clothes would the $$$ value...
A lot of this stuff was 'Theatre' produced i have been led to believe, so why not make your own from whatever materials were used. Cut up an old jacket or sofa, couch, settee call it what you will(does it have to be horse?), paint it the base colours and find a wartime picture on the net with...
As to how early should we start our preparations, I do think shops try to bully people into spending as selling things is their job, but do display Christmas cards in August as our Tesco store once did was bad enough. On a trip to Niagara on the Lake we came across an all year Christmas shop and...
Season's Greatings has aways been an acceptable alternate version for Christmas cards etc, usually accompanied by pictures of decorated tree's, piles of presents and happy smiling faces and even sometimes religious images that we associate with Christmas.
The argument that there were other...
Can anyone recommend any books about life in the Weimar Republic. Not particularly interested in the rise of the Nazi's but general life and culture.
I have Saints and Sinners about films etc from the era but I am looking more for something about everyday life and other entertainment from this...
Taking a break from Novels, I can read classics and enjoy them immensely such as Ian Fleming's James Bond series, Steinbeck's Grapes of Wrath and Cannery Row and get bored with others such as Harper Lee's To kill a Mocking Bird, or Jonathan Swifts Gullivers Travels.
I have just finished two war...
