The only thing I really liked was the post bag, it appears to be an updated version of Jacques Tati's postman's bag from Jour de Fete, but! After viewing the rear facings there are far to many studs for the bag to look attractive in my opinion. Even the price is not that outrageous.
The jackets...
Yes mate, not too many posts to trawl through to get into the topic before it diversifies too much.
Your last sentance sums up my thoughts as well, but Lewis do say their jackets are authentic copies of their original pattens or words to that effect. Having a brand where there was no brand does...
Just had a thought, to revive this older post(not dead yet).
All those who do not like makers labels or branding let me ask you this.
Would any of you remove the brand mark from your car or motorcycle be it Harley Davidson, Ford, Lexus, Cadillac, Suzuki etc? And would you hunt everywhere for...
No replies eh! Makes it look like those who have the knowledge have all done a bunk to the "Vintage leather Jackets" forum as most of your question is for flying gear. I'm not allowed in there(VLJ as it is known as in this lounge) as my interest is more aimed at the men and machinery rather than...
No mate, things like ads for Netflix, Interflora, Fisher Investments etc. Now it's Alan ******* Sugar and his awful TV program Aggggghhhhhh!
Edward has put in a reasonable answer to all this. Lets hope they can work something out :)
OK delete or move if you must but a lot of readers may be as interested as me.
How on earth can I stop an open page jumping up and down, taking me to halfway through a topic so I have to scroll back as ads load and change.
I know advertising pays for things but I now look at less pages simply...
Serious question, not just a rant.
Is there anyway to get rid of those ads that make the readable text stop jumping up and down as I often write topics only to have the ad move and click and continue in the wrong place. Most annoying thing I can see about this new version. or is it a 'Pay to...
I am sure absolutely no film producer bothered to look up or was even interested in authentic features such as A2 contract numbers, pocket flaps or makers names etc back in the 1950s-60's or even as late as the 1990s to get that spot on precision some film goers require today.
I often go...
Ahhh the Rhythm Riot. Nearly got there but none of my mates ever go and whats more the 'Jive Bunnies' have moved in.. To be honest I only go where friends go as no matter how great the acts or how cool the girls and boys are it's no fun on your own anymore. So it's long time friends from Germany...
Strabler or Strabbler, I don't really know. But there really was a Wino Willie.
Off to the Roockerbilly Rave next month to join the 101 other 50 year old teenagers(but not in my power Ranger leathers ;) )
Nothing wrong with wearing sponsor patches if that is your thing. I don't really like it but I do have a Dainese Power Ranger get up with Dainese in big letters across the chest and down the arms and I am happy with it. Yes it is free advertising for Dainese but in this case I quite like it...
May have been an old custom fit for someone in shape so to speak. The lining goes back to the 80s, can't tell you exact but I have a sheep lined Connelly with the same lining in the pockets.
I have not read every post so this may have been covered.
Yes he is a one man operation as far as I know, I doubt if this would happen but there are some other good machinists out there who are probably as good, maybe better than he that could help in his business and as long as the quality was...
That is just it with my old twin track, with a hole in the elbow and a lot of scuffing it does not look an attractive jacket to wear, even with repairs. As a practical jacket back in it's day the twin track Bronx was great in the winter as you could layer up, but for the design I have to...
Hmmmm! looks a bit Lewis ish from the front but the back gives it away, maybe even the lining. To me it just looks like an old bike jacket, a decent one but nothing special. Sorry mate.
I was a Ted in the 70s as I may have mentioned before, so maybe I am biased, except non of the punks in the 70s or even ex punks we swap stories of our lost youth with, have anything positive to say about our Sid, though many think Lydon sold out after the Sex Pistols break up, but especially...
I have owned a few Lewis jackets in my time, mainly as wearers during my motorcycling adventures over 4 decades but I am no expert and only wore what I liked the look of. The Lewis Cyclone is an adaptable design that many manufacturers have made. Many versions by various makers could be seen in...
Nice retro jackets though not in the spirit of historically correct repro's. As with putting Ray Ban on the lenses of sunglasses it appears more about the maker than the jacket itself. As to Derek thinking about cheaper imitators, so many other jackets could easily be mistaken for Lewis, a bit...
