coble--Congrats! I was there for the first time last April, and I will certainly stop in when I'm visiting my family there. I'm usually in town twice a year.
Rick, I love that photo. I did a little research awhile back and found out they were given Shudde Bros. supplied 7X CB Open Roads by the Houston Chamber of Commerce upon their official arrival in 1962.

Esther--looks like you're going to be having fun. Congrats on getting all those goodies.
moon--thanks for the props. You're a quick study so you got into the flow here without needing much help.
Panandora, Bolero, Bob, Eric (wow, what a hat day for you!)--everyone is looking good on this...
I hear you. If we could only get the culture of the Swamp and the climate of the Bay Area together in one place.
So many hats to comment on...I'll just say Esther, I'm with the others on the camel coat, and moon, that is a fine new look for you.
Wearing old No. 1 today.
Bama, I don't have as many pairs of boots as hats, but I have a feeling I would have to relocate, too, if I get another pair. I'm thinking Texas might take me back without questioning my habits.
Bob, that's a great first fur felt. I have one like it, and it's a fine example from the last years of the high quality Stetsons. moon is correct that your estimate of the age of the hat is about right, and I would say your "I don't really care" attitude due to age is about right, too. We'll...
Alan, I would say that your initial thoughts on the origins of the thin ribbon OR have some merit. Please do post some photos of those early 20th Century thin ribbons for our edification.
Thank you, my friend. I love old expressions like that. I don't hear too many people using them anymore.
And thanks to Simon82 and moehawk, too. We should know whether the horse came in by the end of the week, and then you may never see me wearing this get up again. ;)
