SOLD: Vintage Royal Steston 7 3/8 Sold

Thanks, Let me see if I can get a measurement of myself. I suspect it could be shrunk slightly if neccissary though. It's a bit tricky for me, cause an average off the shelf 7-1/4 will give me a headache over time, but a 7-3/8 will blow off in the wind.. so usually i just go with the 7-1/4...

    Stetson vs. Resistol

HATCO, thanks for your input on the differences between the brands. One question as far as HATCO corporate, is either brand considered "more premium" or are they basically equal? I have both, but my Resistol is straw, and my felts are Steston. My friend bought a 6X resistol which was...

how to spice up "Business Casual"

Thanks for the replies! Regarding polos... I'm not sure what brands I have.. a variety. My dad wears them frequently as casual wear (don't catch him too often in the jeans and t-shirt dress code). My biggest issue is I like a really sharp collar... and polo collars always seem to be rumpled...

    Stetson vs. Resistol

Thanks for your reply, sounds like in recent years they are the same hat, different brand. I'm sure the differentiation (and apples to oranges effect) gets greater the farther back you go. I was just surprised to see that the 2 biggest western hatmakers were under the same roof (and have...

Hats for Sale All 7 1/8

The lounge won't let me PM yet. I'm interested in the 3 Stetsons you have (not all 3, but one of the 3 to be exact). Are these still available? I realize this is an old post. If so, please PM me if possible or e-mail brandon.shriver@volvo.com Thanks,

SOLD: Vintage Royal Steston 7 3/8 Sold

Is this still available? Just to be clear, it is in-fact a 7-3/8 size, not smaller? I usually wear a 7-1/4, but may actually be a tad bigger (always a toss up between 1/4 and 3/8 at the hat store), so this should work for me if it is 3/8

    Classic Hat Makers List

I have a MacPhergus... did a search on this brand and only turned up 1 or 2 threads that didn't get much.. here is a picture. It is stamped ONeil's inside. It's a countour oval "shaped to fit the head" Sorry for the fuzzy pics.. my camera here at work REALLY does not like close up focusing..

    Stetson vs. Resistol

I'm curious in general, but specifically in modern hats... and I believe Resistol only makes western/cowboy hats these days so we can limit discussion to those if appropriate. What I'm curious about is whether there is a difference or brand distinction between Stetson and Resistol now that...

    Double Cuff (French Cuff)

Thanks for the note. Which brings up another question. Are detachable collar and cuff shirts still available?

    New here, with some questions

This is my Mac Phergus. Anyone know about this brand? I didn't find anything useful here on the forum. It is also stamped with ONeil's presumptively a mens' store somewhere?

    Double Cuff (French Cuff)

Thanks for the reply. Maybe it is different over in the UK, but here at least in the tuxedo rental industry almost all of the winged shirts are single cuff. I had to especially look for and buy a double cuff one. I get my dress shirts these days from Charles Tyrwhitt, which I understand is...

    Double Cuff (French Cuff)

I've worn double cuff shirts since I was 13, (24 now) and these days since I rarely wear a suit/tie I pretty much always wear a double cuff if a tie is involved (feel silly wearing them without a tie though). My question is, I was reading through one of the "guides" on this site regarding...

how to spice up "Business Casual"

I looked this up and it seems to have been discussed before, but the problem with business casual is that it seems every company, or even department within a company has a different definition. For instance I used to work at a desert proving grounds (for heavy trucks, military vehicles etc)...

How much can a hat size be increased or decreased from original intent. Say could a size 7 be increased to a 7-1/4? I usually wear a 7-1/4, but my grandpa's old 7-1/8 fits perfectly, just wondering what the tolerance is. Thanks!

    Suit Question

FWIW, I picked up 2 decent suits at Salvation Army for <$10 each. One of the two (my favorite) is a navy 95% wool, 5% Cashmere, made in Israel. When I got it it was by far my best fitting suit, and gets quite a few compliments. Not bad for $7. I suspect you could buy one a tad too large and...

    New here, with some questions

Thanks for the information. Sweatband orientation, and presumedly non-Texas made Stestsons are good things to look for. Wasn't there a time when Stetsons were made in MO as well? St. Joeseph I believe? I'm not really in a rush, and though I hear generally good things about Akurba, everyone...

    New here, with some questions

Thanks for the replies. I tend to watch for "deals" on Ebay, thus the MacPhergus... What age do people consider the "vintage" Stetsons? I'm assuming sometime back before they were HatCo.. What about older Resistols? I know they and Stetson are now the same brand, but noticed there was an...

    New here, with some questions

Thanks for the response. The whippet looks OK, I notice Stetson does still make a Whippet. Is it general consensus that Akurba is better than Stetson these days? Looking at the Stetson site, I'm attracted to the Nostalgia and the Pinnacle (figures I'd go straight to the most expensive hat!)

    New here, with some questions

Sorry if I ask a bunch of general newbie questions that get discussed often. I will be using the search function as well, but figure I can throw some questions into an introduction too! Little background, I'm 24 but most my friends will tell you I'm at least 50. I drive a Cadillac, shave with...
