I had a newer version of this jacket in black and even though I loved it for what it was, this looks like a tremendous upgrade. The one thing I didn't like about mine was it was on the thin side. But this just looks glorious. Think it'll be a little big for me especially for a trucker. But...
Here's what I've noticed after buying/selling about 70 used jackets.
$75-125 range. If all you're after is a leather jacket because you like the look, attitude, whatever, and you're on a super tight budget, there are solid options that will check off a lot of boxes. Brooks, Kehoe, Branded...
Think I may have found my best fitting Lee 101j repro.
Love the original but at 6'0, it's a little too short for me and the poofy upper arms, eh. Might turn into a vest down the road. Will still try and rock it from time to time. Bravestar does an awesome job, but little too long. Works...
everything going up. I noticed Schott raised a bunch of models as well. Won't be long for raises across the board for all makers. Makes the secondary market more interesting as it was starting to feel like jackets were not moving as much on classifieds. Some Aeros were coming down sub $600...
Miraculously last night, the part of Los Angeles I live in dipped down into the 50 f range (about 12c) in the late evening. Got a couple hours in my 118. No photo, but felt good for sure. Alas, tomorrow we are back to normal near 100f (37c).
I moved most of the leather jackets to the back of...
I think they're priced a little high when new. They're getting pretty close to Aero prices and side by side, if I'm being fair, I'd give the edge to Aero. There are some Schott collabs and special editions, etc. that I think are on par, however, but just generally speaking.
In the secondary...
I'm really struggling with this one. It was the hardest jacket for me to track down at a good price. Not a lot out there in the wild. Probably the one I've spent the most time thinking about whether I want to keep or not. Given it's not even summer yet but been hot as hell, I don't think...
I wouldn't mess with it. Really good quality ones come up for sale here a few times a year. For about $300 you can get a really nice one. With this, you risk stitch holes, liner issues, etc.
I sent you a pm. I have one I've been considering selling but not clear on what size you need...
118, one of the most underrated jackets. Probably not the best for riding, although I'm sure can handle its own, but such a great fit and leather is really good for "common" person standards. really soft, breaks in easy, can get some creases and grain with time., thick yet easy to wear...
intrigued. So she would do a transplant of the back from the one jacket to the other? Otherwise I think it'll look funny with the kidney panel, etc. if you only do the top part.
When I had my brooks, instead of replacing the elastic, I had a tailor slim up some of the excess material and sew...
So, I think I can give you pretty good advice here as a fellow Los Angelino, owner of a Ridley, and owner of some of those leathers.
First of all, I'm nuts. Like having 3 shearling jackets and getting a lot of wears from them LOL. I live in Woodland Hills/Calabasas area, and you probably know...
LOL. Most of my jacket wearing happens around the house and in the yard. Hardly ever get out anymore, but when I do, it's done proper LOL.
Just trying to get some cheat wears in the early morning before the heat kicks in. Should be really nice and broken in by fall.
Terry just posted a pic in what are you wearing today thread of his fine creek trucker that got accidentally wet and then spent some time in a dryer. You can see what it will do to leather that can evolve. You can search for the original post about it. Really transforms the jacket into...
awesome, you got to him right before I did. I asked him for the same thing and he mentioned someone had just asked to do one as well. Although I'm kind of going in different direction now. But he nailed it for sure.
