I'm so 'Fond-a' the cap Henry wore in Grapes of Wrath, I've made a cap inspired by it. 'The Tom Joad.'
1930's barleycorn tweed, unlined, hand-folded 1940's ribbon taped seams, leather sweat.
The Grand Prix - a classic 1920's style eight-panel newsboy cap - here available in lush 1920's French plumbago blue flannel shirting cloth and other amazing materials!
Available now...
Thanks guys!! I'm resisting the urge to start 'distressing' it - oil stains, scratches, etc. But I guess if I just treat it rough in normal use, that'll happen anyway. Can't rush a good thing I guess.
Nice Paul Stuart, Greg - that was a real treasure trove you got when you purchased a bunch of them a while back.
Thanks for the comments, boys. A-1, I do all my own design work and photography. For all of the cap artwork I use existing typography and imagery from the teens and 20s and tweak it...
I've tackled something I've wanted to for a while - my first leather cap. I'm going to wear it for a while and break it in to see how it 'seasons.'
The Le Mans - Australian leather, vintage Japanese 'Tsumugi' silk liner, handwoven cotton ribbon and 1930's brass United Carr crown snap.
Many thanks, foamy! I appreciate the kind words. I'm glad you like the design work too – I have a background in design and illustration from long ago and it's nice to put it to use in this way!
I finally got the four-panel newsboy I've been tinkering with for months into gear. 'The Clover', in two different fabrics - a 1940's herringbone stripe and a 1920's barleycorn tweed.
