Winter arrived in Sydney on Friday and made its presence felt with winds direct from the Snowy Mountains. SJC wool and leather halfbelt finally got its first wear. I'm thinking the leather is goat, sturdy but not stiff. A joy to wear, very comfortable.
Let's be frank, this is the Fedora Lounge. It starts with one jacket, and then builds up momentum from there. So make your first jacket, say, steer, then the next one horse, then the next one goat, the fourth deer, and so on, and check 'em all out. :p:D
I haven't found a jacket I'd forgotten about in real life, but I've dreamed that I've rediscovered some gem I'd forgotten about, only to wake up and realise that no, I don't actually own the dream jacket, it was all just a fantasy.
I loved the 80s, had a crazy good time in high school. I remember scrunching up the sleeves was the big look back then. Even the kinda weird dress jackets that were cropped, almost like a waiter's jacket - you guys that were there hopefully know what I'm talking about - everyone wore them with...

Funny enough, just looking at my house in those photos I released it was built in 1960 as well. I sense a theme here . . .
Mine wasn't just a jacket, it was a whole suit. Back in the 1986 I was in my last year of high school, age 16 turning 17. I was into all things Rockabilly in a huge way and scoured the thrift stores for anything vintage 50s clothing-wise. I found a couple of nice suits and one that was...
Yet another way cool jacket Jonesy. And a great fedora to go with it (Stetson Whippet?). Comes out a very rich colour on my monitor, more red tones in your pics than the orangey shade of the JC pics. Excellent vintage style and, of course, the fit is spot-on.
At my place it's bats, not little bats, mind you, but fruit bats with metre-wide wingspans. They drop sticky purple splatters all over the fence, cars, sides of the house, you name it, at night time. Next day, you gotta wash it off, or it a) sets like superglue, and b) will eat right through the...

Well, it doesn't look like a dog to me . . .
I think we're trying to view a different time period and culture through the lens of our own modern consumerist culture, which didn't exist back then - unless you were one of the rich elite who had your suits made bespoke and purchased monogrammed shirts. To most everyone else back then, the way...
