Yes, 1950's. It is a stitched over-welt. It is not felted. It IS one of my favorite brim treatments when stitched with multiple rows like that. Here is my Marathon with the same edge here: Nice get! -

I has the exact same thing happen with a Premier Whippet in natural, I ordered through them.......came as a special order and arrived with some awful ribbon work and stitching hanging out all over the place....so got returned as well. Then they said it would be a years wait....so I canceled... -

A Modern Black Whippet....this one has a 2 3/8 brim, so fairly stingy for "StingyMass". Had a very deep flange which I removed to make the most of the brim, creating a shallow flange (very shallow in front, less so in back). Then I re-creased the crown to give more head room....as much as I... -

Here in Illinois (and the Mid-West generally) most are still wearing shorts at 56 degrees (and even lower temperatures).......we break out the winter coats in the single digits! -

Here is another addition to the Guild. A mid-50's Royal Stetson Open Road. Price tag of $10 indicates before 1956 when the price jumped to $10.50 it seems (Then around April 1956 price went from $10.50 to $10.95). Has plastic tip cover so 1953 or later.....it also has the black lettering... -
