The photo top down sitting on box makes me yearn for a silver belly on the tannish hue spectrum with copper bound edge. People with hat disease see all kinds of hats in all kinds of places.
Dispute with Ebay. I think they will support a full refund with shipping when the error is all on the seller. Wrong hat, wrong size, wrong material is a pretty big error.
Thanks for the compliments to you and ll the others. That tall crown VS is my favorite. Great felt with great feel, fits perfect, and the colors are darn near universal.
Meeting today and in spite of the heat I chose felt. I can't grab a straw when there is a VS felt sitting near it. I didn't hang out in the heat and I survived unscathed. The photos are at the end of the day.
If you ever ride a horse even a little bit fast with a floppy 4 inch brim hat that will be the last time you do it. Seeing where the horse is taking you is important. 4 inch brims my have an OSHA required amount of shellac. I like my 4 inch and wider to be S T I F F.
What kind of hat are you interested in? fedora or western?
I have had two 100% beaver westerns made by Northwest hats and I'm very pleased with both. The price is a lot better than either of those you mentioned and I bet the hat bodies used for the hats are from the same source. If you know...
I have a a couple of 100% beaver Dorer hats. I think they use Fespa bodies. The felt is not like any Winchester body beaver I have handled. The sweatband has a hand laced rawhide (maybe it' s leather) string seam which is a nice touch. I have some 100% beaver Bailey westerns that are just as...
Resistol/Hatco has felting plant in east Texas and the factory in Garland but not in one place. Maybe the Tonak distinction is being in one place. AKubra does seem to be all in one place from fur to finished hat.
I have a custom on order and the color I want is only available in hare/rabbit. I would have gotten beaver but I'm not worried about it being bunny. I know several of my vintage hats are likely >90% rabbit and I like all of them and can't tell them from some that are mostly or all beaver. I know...
I always wondered about the source of hat bodies for Stetson. I can't recall ever reading about them having their own felting plant. I assumed they did it all up to some point. I chalked up the up and down cycles of those hats (happened with their westerns too) to better and not so great hat...
You are right, I started the listing and then changed the hat. This brown one has no other model naming, just 3x quality. I guess I'm not a hat salesman.
No mothing, no unpleasant odors, and the ferrule for reeded sweat is greening but still there.
I write technical stuff so it's just the...
