Okay, great. Thanks for the advice. The ultimate goal is to find a style similar to what Hal Needham and other Hollywood tough guys from the 70's used to wear (without the bell-bottom portion, that is). The last pic is Daniel Craig from the movie "Munich", who I think also did a great job...
Don't ever sell this jacket. In fact, as someone who sells graves and funeral insurance for a living, take my advice and have it written into your will that you want to be buried in it.
You live and learn, and I have no doubt that Theodoros will provide me with a great jacket this time around. And I've actually never owned a pair of Levi's jeans. I started buying mine from American Eagle back in high school, and just always stuck with that brand. Definitely going to try on some...
I've said it before and I'll say it again...this is the greatest leather jacket that I've ever seen. Period. And to top it off, I've never even seen this Thedi style work on anyone else (including myself, because I bought a custom one through Thurston and then sold it after it didn't look or fit...
I work with a guy who wears an ascot unironically. We sell graves for a living, if anyone is curious. Anyway, he pulls it off and actually manages to look like a guy you'd see walking the deck of a 1920's cruise ship.
When I had my jacket made in late 2022, I was told by Carrie at Thurston that Aero would only make their jackets with the Talon zippers in question. Was this not true?
I can't say, because just getting it to zip up at all is so frustrating that I don't even bother any more. It's a strictly "wear open" jacket, as far as I'm concerned. That said, all of the other Talon zips on the hand and D pocket work fine, but man oh man are the teeth sharp. Even after a year...
I would tell myself not to go with their Talon zippers. They're unbelievably flimsy and frustrating. Apparently they are starting to use a new type now that promise to make the wearer not want to jump off a bridge, so I'd definitely go with those.
I found this because I'm looking to have an Amelia Earhart reproduction made for my girlfriend, and wanted to see if anyone else had dome something like that. Haha, turns out they did.
I ended up going to The Stronghold yesterday to meet Theodoros, and I'm very glad I did. Honestly, after all these years, I was really just curious as to what his voice would sound like. Anyway, even though I already placed an order for a custom Thedi last month, I wanted him to take my...
I honestly think they just cut it that way. I have one that I just bought from 1972 that seems to do pretty much the same thing. J. Crew would be far more conscious of this sort of thing, since they prioritize style over warmth.
The real question is...what were you looking at when this pic was taken? It's been more than six years since you posted it, and I can still feel your anger.
