Aero will take those issues such as wool thickness into account when making the jacket. They are true masters at what they do. Ive had two jackets completely custom built from the ground up with some strange measurement requirements and they have nailed it both times. Just make sure they have...
LOL, ya I have. A lot will depend on the price. I wasnt planning on using a newer jacket, but a good condition jacket that I bought used. If the price is going to be hundreds of dollars than its not worth it. If its around $100 or so, its a neat idea.
My friends suggest a tattoo, but Im...
Ive been contemplated getting my dog or his head painted on one of my favorite jackets. Ive never loved a dog like I love this guy and I think it might be a neat idea. Id like to run it by someone who does jacket artwork and see what they think.
I have lots of photos, but Im thinking...
Put on pants you normally wear pick a point to where you want a jacket to come too (wearing a jacket you already like the length on can help). Have someone measure from the base of your neck to that point.
I decided based on the length of most of my untucked tshirts. I knew I wanted the...
Interesting idea. The FQHH and heavy steer are both chrome tanned. Id be interested to see the results. I still put my money on FQHH for the better patina.
I was just looking over an old email with Amanda regarding my jacket and she did mention that the steerhide was very difficult to tell apart from the horsehide based on looks alone. The leather I got just may have happened to have that nice pebble effect. If you really like that, you may want...
Mine isnt old enough. I personally dont think any leather can beat the patina of their FQHH, especially in brown or cordovan. There is just something about that horsehide. Id love to see some photos too.
Oh and one more thing (sorry to hijack your thread) The horse they used on my jacket is normally what they use on their A2's its 3.5oz seal brown smooth horsehide mid weight vegetable tanned leather. Its NOT as waterproof as their chrome tanned leather if that is a concern. The call it...
I was just sitting here laughing about this whole jacket process. That jacket is an ANJ-4/b3 cross with some other changes. I told Aero I wanted a really tough jacket and they said that the b3 would do the job. I told them that I wanted the arms completely overlayed in horse and they said ok...
You will love it. Im telling you, it took a few emails from Amanda to convince me to go steerhide, but Im glad I did. All the other factors aside, I just enjoy the feel. Its not better or worse than horse or goat, its just different. Aero's steerhide (at least on my jacket) is similar to...
Actually, I was quoting you, but it was more directed at the general population who think that horse is the best but may not have a reason. A lot of people parrot others when they say horse is the best. I think a more appropriate response is really that they just like horse more. Its like the...
Thats a very heavily debated (and heated) argument. Trying to choose which is better always seems to come down to a subjective decision. Leather processing has changed, hide weights have changed that are used, thread and treatments have changed. It was well put by one member on the forum a...
I love it. Its one of those jackets where I feel there is just simply nothing to improve on. its heavy as hell and you know when you have it on. I would let Aero know its intended use so they can cut appropriately. You will notice that this jack has big arms. I Gave Amanda my arm...
I think its hit or miss. Even some parts of my jacket are more grainy than others. Honestly, I think the coolest look is when you have a panel thats really grainy and then another that isnt...I have no idea why I like this. They will find an extra pebbled looking hide if you ask. Id look at...
I much prefer their steerhide to their horse. I have seen the FQHH and I have their midweight horse. I have 6+ oz steerhide from them and I just love it. It feels more like a motorcycle jacket, which is what I wanted. Its heavy, its stiff, and I like the grain more. I wanted the heaviest...
Its hit or miss it seems. I have had to pay customs fees of 50 - 60.00 for each of my Aero jackets. I have heard from others who have not gotten dinged with fees.
Just thought I would chime in here. I have an Aero B3 that they overlayed midweight horsehide over in its entirety. The jacket is bullet proof. I have an aero steerhide jacket thats gotta be over 6 oz and Id feel more protected with the B3.
Just ask Amanda are Aero. She will ask you for your measurements, they will make the jacket to your measurements. If you want it slightly long or short she can help you out with that too.
I noticed a few threads regarding Saddleback, so I thought I would throw my opinion in. I originally posted this at the Style Forum, figured someone might benefit from it here.
Review of Saddleback Leather XL Briefcase:
I was so curious about Saddleback after hearing so many pros and cons...
