I dont know if its my imagination, but it seems like those who order in the US directly through Aero in Scotland dont have these extremely long waits. Might be something to think about...but again, not sure if thats entirely accurate.
Thanks guys, I will let him know and he can request more samples then. I ordered a jacket in their heaviest heavy steerhide and he said he wanted the same thing...I guess they sent him samples of some heavier leather to make sure he knew what he was getting into...good thing they did that.
After ordering my last Aero, my friend decided that he wanted to order one as well. He had Aero send him samples of their heavy steerhide and FQHH. He decided that he liked the look and grain of the steerhide better, but that it was too heavy. He wants to know if Aero regularly stocks...
I like my jackets to fit loose and it also gives me room to grow and still looks good if I shrink a little bit as well. Im betting this post was started by an individual who has not gone through all, or most of the phases of life. At one time I was a competitive weight lifter and had to have...
To continue down the horsehide vs. steerhide conversation that this thread has started, I would like to request more opinions. I am set on steerhide due to the weight and thickness, however my friend will most likely be ordering a similar jacket to mine and is trying to decide between the two...
See lol! She is truly amazing. Im a complete pain in the ass, I want more information, I change something in my initial spec, nothing about anything I order is standard, and dont wear anything close to a standard size, but she never misses a beat.
I dont know about you all, but I think she is what every other person in sales or customer service should aspire to be. She doesnt try to sell their products because they basically sell themselves, but she gives you the type of service a millionaire would expect at a rolls royce dealership. No...
Ultra-Mega-Heavyweight....I must of missed that on Aero's website! lol
Actually, not to throw a wrench in the works here...but Id have to say the most waterproof leather Ive worn is Kangaroo! Im sure it was treated, but I have no idea with what. It was lightweight, flexible, and thin...not...
Wow, I am learning so much from this thread, Im glad I started it!
Ok, so I have never spent hours riding in the rain...I was just never that hardcore and never needed to get anywhere that bad...plus I was to afraid of wiping out. But, lets say that was my intention (of course since Im...
And here I thought the chrome tanning was responsible for sealing most of the pores of the leather thus making it more water resistant. I have only ever gotten soaked with naked leather, never with steerhide that was treated. I havent owned horsehide though, so I cant compare the two.
I ended up going with the alpaca inside their super heavy weight steerhide when I placed my order. Interestingly enough, a friend of mine is interested in ordering basically the same jacket I ordered and was interested in the satin lining, but its not even an option in leather that heavy. So...
Im not sure whether the steerhide I ended up having them use is heavier than normal. I asked them for the thickest and heaviest horsehide they had and they told me to go with their steerhide instead as they have some 5.5 oz chrome tanned steerhide, so Im going with that. I dont know if thats...
I am no expert, but it looks like the civilian version that they make. Yes, you paid about what you could get one new for, BUT...they are all made in China now, yours is made in the USA. That would be enough of an incentive for me personally.
Thanks for all of the opinions I ordered a jacket that was based off of the cheyenne, but uses a zipper and incorporates many style features of the highwayman. I will post photos upon its arrival. Aero convinced me to go with heavy steerhide over horsehide as well.
I wish we had a multi-quote feature.
To asnwer your questions, I had them charge my card at the time of the order. I asked them a few times about water resistance, durability, etc. I was assured that both due to the leather and the crhome tanning process they would hold up just as well to...
Yes, definitely want the heaviest. Its a perfect combination of the style jacket I want that will also replace the weight and feel of my favorite "real" motorcycle leather jacket that no longer fits (a contract brand harley davidson which has to be about 5oz +/-). I didnt think aero used...
On occasion I work with the defense industry and military. I work in a complex with quite a lot of air force personnel wearing the jackets they earned. If they saw anyone wearing a jacket that was clearly not their own they would smile and make small talk, then roll their eyes when you left...
No I havent. I have an old 4oz schott steerhide jacket, and I wanted something heavier. I have had samples of the horsehide and was impressed, but wanted to go on the heaviest end of their horsehide. The samples I had were rather small as well though. Anyway, when I said I wanted the...
