Ok, I know its a bit...strange looking, to say the least. I saw it last year and tried to put it out of my mind, but I simply couldnt. I tried to ignore it and tell myself it was stupid looking...but it failed lol. However, at over $600.00 I refused to buy it.
I just found it online on...
Im contemplating having something like this made after seeing Tom Clancy on one of his book covers several years ago. After losing weight, most of my old jackets no longer fit (Aero excluded). I was thinking of having Aero make me an An6552 or M442a, but with a sheepskin collar either this...
Im looking looking for something to use as a spring and early fall jacket, sounds like goat may be the way to go. Does the veg tanning make for a good patina as the jacket gets worn?
Jan, how thick and heavy is their goat skin? Do you have any idea of the ounce weight? or some way I could equate it to their steer or FQHH? Im looking for something that would be seriously thick, but not as stiff as the steer. Something to use as a springtime jacket.
Any ideas?
I dont care for CHP jackets, just my personal opinion. But yours with the white fur collar looks absolutely awesome. Excellent jacket and it fits you very well.
He takes himself VERY seriously. He also came over from another division that is much more traditional. He does dress excellently though, just in the wrong environment.
I always joke that when the cats piss me off Im going to make slippers out of them. My cats weigh about 10 pounds, my dog weighs about 170 pounds he is over 6 ft long including his tail and the top of his head is 40" high. All of that and the cats boss him around. he is 170 pounds of pure...

No. Mark specifically states that for heavy customizations you have to go through the Aero factory. He does not want to deal with consumption of time or increased responsibility that heavy customizations require. I dont blame him, the larger number of communication channels...
I think you hit the nail on the head, its really more about different, not so much better. Thats just an endless debate and as you and others have suggested, there are just so many factors that come into the equation other than simply the animal.
I have an Aero horsehide mid weight jacket and I...
I appreciate your input everyone, but this thread has taken on a life of its own. No one is getting fired over wearing a tie, a full suit, a baseball hat, or a t shirt. Its just not the way its done at our company. If you can do the job and do the job well, you can screw up in almost every...
I've determined it comes down to personal opinion and opinion only. After talking with manufacturers, especially Aero and hearing their opinions, Im convinced that the horsehide / steerhide debate is simply a battle of personal preference and nothing more.
I agree Jan. I think taking the whole collar down 3" will give me what I want. It will be huge, but not circus clown big.
I love maine coons, but those are actually just strays we found near the barn or around the area and took in. Here are a few photos:
and of course the great...
I believe they use the same fleece, it may end up being warmer,as it has more overlays. I have my B3/ANJ4 cross completely overlayed in 3.5oz horse hide and it is MUCH warmer than when it was just the sheepskin with a few overlays.
I designed the collar to mirror the collar on my B3/ANJ4 cross which I absolutely love.
Problem is that I did not realize the mouton wouldnt be thick enough to keep any sort of shape like the sheepskin does. I think it will be perfect when cut down by 3", but I do love my huge collars.
