I think the poster may meant that you can't buy directly from Jonathan Richard.
Their caps can only be purchased through their distributors. I know that DelMonico Hatter and JJ hats & Village Hat Shop have offered some styles in the past.
The pandemic seems to have affected Jonathan...
Thank you for the kind words Eric.
My hats and caps get a lot of wear.. They're not collectible when I'm done with them. Lol
I'd love to find a manufacturer who uses your wonderful fabrics in cap styles that I prefer.. Until then, I'm a herringbone fan...
From the general public, most comments are great.
Once a gentleman at a breakfast diner commented "nice pounce in that felt". After I got over the shock of someone else knowing what pouncing in a felt hat was. We had a great conversation about hats.
The guy at Staples always calls me...
Nope, just propped up on a stand near the front counter.
They've always made statements about how long they've been in business. I'm not sure if they knew how they ranked in age against other hatters until the book was released.
In 1936, 1800 veterans of the American Civil War attended an 75th Anniversary reunion at Gettysburg, PA.
The youngest was 88 years old, and the oldest claimed to be 112 years old. They all became good friends.s.
I put Beaver felt fedora's away during the summer. But wear my other felt fedora's & wool caps year round. I switch to my Panama hat when Temps get over 90 and the humidity is nasty.
Last cap from my visit to Delmonico Hatter. Wigens "stuart". Nice Brown Herringbone Harris Tweed Newsboy with lots of interesting red & yellow colors mixed in.
I like the yellow stripe in the pattern across the back of the cap.
Akubra style master with an informal diamond.
I tend to go back and forth between the standard bash and the diamond.
If I ever decide to keep the diamond, it'll need more water and shaping.
Go to YouTube and watch Kevin From JJ hats channel. "Hats and Guitars" is the channel name.
He'll teach you how to do almost everything you need to know.
Then search and read posts here to get answers to your remaining questions.
I don't begrudge anyone who has the available money to buy really expensive hats. As long as that $1000 hat isn't affecting their ability to pay mortgages, bills etc.
I just don't see the need. But that's just me.
