It was 75 degrees and 80% humidity at 7AM this morning. It was a bit too warm. But I decided to wear this Gamble and Gun brown "Molloy & Sons" Irish Donegal Tweed Newsboy. Its a size 57, sweating in it stretched it just enough to make it really comfortable.
I'm a stage 1 melanoma survivor with a 3 Inch scar on my face as a result of the "wide area surgery".
It reminds me everyday to wear sunscreen and a hat.
It's been decades since I've been in restaurant here in the US that had a coat room or people who handled coats or hats.
I'm not even sure if they still exist. If they do exist, I probably can't afford to eat there.
Coats in restaurants in the US are typically hung on the back of your chair...
We rarely dine in "fancier restaurants" that require more formal attire.
Heres my process at the regular places that we dine at;
If we're sitting in a booth, my hat or cap comes off & sits alongside me.
If we are at a table or at the bar. My hat or cap stays on my head.
A few things that I've learned from purchasing newsboy caps from Gamble and Gunn.

I own a straw hat, but it's rarely worn. For some strange reason, I get a headache from the white reflection from the underside of the brim.
My fur felt hats get worn year round and never noticed any benefit from ventilation holes.
But then again, I've been known to wear a wool newsboy cap...
