Thanks, Outside Dog.
Shoot me your address (or the zip code) in a PM and I'll get some shipping quotes over the next few days for you and we can go from there.
Dear Loungers
We are in the midst of planning a 4 week road trip from Spokane into Nth Idaho down through Yellowstone to Monument Valley and Sth Utah.
[A long drive, but we are used to driving 2 hrs + to get to the shops...jks]
As Australians, we are spoilt for choice with Akubras. However...
My newest addition to the hat rack... an Akubra Angler in Loden (size 60).
I've always been interested in the Angler, but had never seen one 'in the felt'. Akubra stock is low EVERWHERE, but I stumbled across a size 60.
Tried it on... loved it... wore it out. It's the first 'real hat' I've...
Waiting on a Fed IV Deluxe dark brown (size 60)... hopefully arriving soon!
Also waiting on stock for the heritage fawn and carbon grey.
Thinking of a cattlemans crease for something different on the Fed IV (already having a rear drop on the other one I have). I really like the cattlemans...
I couldn't find many Fed IV pre-loved when I was looking at purchasing (likely a testament to how good they are!).
I ended up waiting and saving a bit longer to get a new one... I am not disappointed!
Best of luck on the hunt!
Woah! That's almost 2 pairs here (with discounts).
I stopped in at a shop that sells RMs in the Cotswolds last trip... they were about the same price there too (about £400)
They have a buckram inner band (at least the new Travellers do). I always go one size up in Akubra to take into account shrinkage... but that's with leather inner band. The buckram will still likely shrink, just not as much as leather.
TBH, I'd still probably go 59 and 57 (and just use some hat...
You won't be disappointed... Their Fed IV is amazing.
I was out at the store last weekend... they are lovely people and I will make the 3hr drive to get my hats because of them any day! Patrick also does a good bash.
RM Williams 'Comfort Craftsman' chisel toe (the OG style chelsea)
RM Williams 'Turnout' round toe (a Comfort Crafstman with rounded toe)
Loake 'Chatsworth' chelsea boot
Nope. Depending on colour, they go with basically everything (at least in my experience wearing them everyday for the past decade or so).
They are relatively expensive, but worth every penny (even at RRP).
RM also often run a promotion whereby you can trade in old pairs and receive a credit...
Yep... and as soon as LVMH took over, the prices went up! That said, I've compared my 'pre Louis' boots with 'post Louis' and they've both held up well.
Now Twiggy has the Conn, it will be interesting to see how quality and price changes (if at all).
You absolutely pull that off!!
If I tried people would think I was being ironic.
I'm comfortable in flat caps (and only because a brilliant salesman at Laird in London made me wear it out and not to take it off for a whole day)... just need to ease into crowns, a bowler being the end goal.
Thanks, Cuvier
Out of curiosity, what crease are you running on the Fed IV?
I have the typical crease but feel it's a lot of crown (although in reality it's likely not). I do feel more comfortable with a shorter crown in a cattleman (like I have on my squatter) and thinking of a cattleman on...
Dear Loungers
This is a Snowy River that I have had for about 12 months (but forgot I had... it's been sitting in a box). I've worn it outside once camping... and about 4 times inside (that's it).
Looking to sell or trade.
Details:
Akubra
Snowy River
Size: 59
Colour: Sand
Age: about 12mths...
Reminds me of an Akubra Territory (or Cattleman without brim ribbon) but with a Snowy River band, especially with those two eyelets and in that colour, both great hats! What a steal.
