Heh, thanks Frunobulax, you buy the ticket and I'll be there.
So here's my question - how much steam? And how vigorously do I brush? I'm going to have to go buy a brush in the first place, but the general consensus seems to be that an unused shoe brush is fine for the purpose and even here...
I posted this in the "Questions" thread too, but I'm not sure how many people are following that one so I thought I'd ask here too...
I received my hat from Dacquino today, and while I wait to hear back from Luisa I'd love to hear some opinions. The hat is beautiful, but it seems to have...
I'll be posting more pics on the D'acquino thread, but while I wait to hear back from Luisa I thought I'd ask you experts. The hat is beautiful, but it seems to have been damaged in shipping. Likely the cardboard insert has dug into the topside of the brim and left some "wounds" - shallow...
Well, the good news is it's in Japan already, and released by customs. The bad news is it's "with duties". Hope it's not too much - that's a first for me since I've been here.
Did you ever buy one from her, Joao? You could have picked it up!
My tracking says "CTT Expresso", which I take to be a large private Portuguese shipping company. We'll see how long it goes, no ETA on the tracking so far.
Well, it shipped - with a surprise change I'll talk about when it arrives. I have no idea how long it'll take to get to Japan from Portugal, but I'm intensely curious to say the least. Pics when it gets here.
Think a classic 40's Stetson or competitor - open crown slightly over 5" (I did request a specific bash), 2 5/8" brim. I showed her some pics of what I wanted, and gave her my first and second choices for ribbon color and width. Luisa is very flexible about specific requests. I'll go into...
Actually the logo for her company says "D'acquino", and that spelling is used several times in the description. Maybe she used "Dacquino" too in order to make web searches easier.
I would point out that D'acquino Hats on Etsy will make you a custom fur felt fedora for less than $100. You can check the reviews there (outstanding) but of more interest might be the thread here, which has a few Loungers' personal experiences in dealing with Luisa, and some photos. I have...
Small update: I can confirm that Luisa does buy her felts from FEPSA. Hat isn't ready yet so I can't comment as to that, but I will say her service and communication has been excellent.
