If that really were a 3/8...
Marathons are consistently some of the most beautifully formed hats out there. But normally any less that a 1/4 is a no-go for me. Any chance you could post measurements of the opening?
Well, I discovered that my hotel in Pereira (where I'll be staying for two nights) is walking distance from a Monterrey branch store. So if anyone else has experience or opinions on their hats or would like to share pics, that would be sincerely appreciated.
Monterrey Hats? Thanks - I knew they were a manufacturer but I wasn't sure if they had a retail presence in Bogota (and I can't find a website if they do). One concern I definitely have is that I'm going to be traveling with two co-workers, and I don't know how much time I'll have to get away...
Well - a bit of a tough question, I guess. So just to narrow it down a little - anyone heard of these guys? Their "Extra Fino" is only 256 wpsi but the price is pretty reasonable. They say a 30-day lead time for that but I could order it now and have them send it to the hotel for me.
So - I've just found out I'm going to be down in Colombia on business in October. I'm no expert, but I know Bob at least is of the opinion that Colombia produces some excellent alternatives to Ecuador-made Panamas. Can anyone recommend a good shop in Bogota to do a little shopping? Especially...
I had a mixed day of it wearing my Daquino clear beaver today. At Narita airport a Japanese man said, "That's a very beautiful hat", which as you all know gives one an irrationally large burst of pride. But when I got to U.S. Immigration at LAX, the agent said "Please take off your cap."...
Wow, thanks - interesting. That book is 1921 so we know they've been around a while, though unfortunately there seems to be no way to see the actual excerpts.
Anyone ever seen one of their hats close up?
Has anybody ever heard of Willard Hats, anyway? All I could turn up in my research is that it could be associated with the old Willard Hotel in D.C..
Maybe buying a fur felt named after a giant rat is a mistake... Or maybe it's nutria? :p
Speaking of "buying from a non-hat person"...
Took a stab at this one and got it dirt cheap - it intrigues me (especially the ribbon work) and I figured because of the no-name, the weird story with the sweatband and the lack of the usual buzzwords it'd go low. It seems legitimately old at the...
I do find some of these specials tempting even with the shipping factor, especially the "Double-woven" Cuenca, which has me curious. Has anyone ordered one from that line?
Sorry - thought you were asking if it was one of the Bollman Borsalinos. Sadly, without the sweat I have neither an "Original House" or "Antica Casa", just the logo - and I don't think there's anyway to tell from that which market it was made for, is there?
