Yeah eBay buy, but belonged to Plumbline apparently. Small world when it comes to leather jackets. His measurement of 21.5-22" pit to pit is correct, with the sides cinched all the way in.
So the Model E arrived a couple days ago and I've been really enjoying it.
It's a different beast than I was expecting going by Vanson's reputation. The leather is very soft everywhere apart from the lower back panel that is still as stiff as a board. I haven't handled Vanson comp weight before...
It looks amazing man, never had a Vanson before. I usually go after 22.5 pit to pit so if its around that then we're golden, 19" shoulders should be good. That being said, Ton is a 44 and is yoked as hell so who knows.
That jacket is completely badass. If you do go about getting it restitched, make sure the person knows you want them to take the time to use the existing holes. I had an old Brimaco redone and they just ran it under the sewing machine. Worked and doesn't really bother me, but you wouldn't want...
Might be slightly crazy for buying a Ralph Lauren jacket off the bay, but I'm a sucker for a CR and it just looks like it has everything going for it. Hopefully lives up to the pics.
I have a Thedi CR in black horsehide.
It's definitely on the lighter side of the weight distribution. Far exceeding an average fashion jacket but nowhere near as substantial as CXLFQHH. It's also a lot more matte than many HH finishes to begin with.
Dont get me wrong though, its a great...
Madness. If a second hand Schott is worth $250, what's a second hand Wilsons' worth?
Yeah, Branded make a pretty badass jacket. Heavy and quite armour-like but still comfortable to wear. I like it a lot but I'm probably in the same boat as you, in that I just get more wear out of a CR than a...
That is a sick jacket. I'm sure you're gonna get a tonne of offers..
I have a size 42 Branded Garments CHP that is pretty chunky ~ 8lb with the liner, belt and mouton collar. I dont know if it's in the same league as that CR but I can put up some pics if you're interested?
That blue/white Bates is honestly one of my favourite jackets - out of everything I've seen posted on this site. The back yoke that Bates do is just stellar.
I live in hope that one day I'll score one off the bay or someplace.
And to contribute to the thread, here's my Thedi CR when it was new...
The stitching on a leather jacket is guaranteed to fail (in several decades hard use of course) especially if it's only single stitched. Having that extra insurance shows a level of quality, time and consideration in the making of it, so as to have it last as long as you can aesthetically allow...
Great buy, looks awesome! Instantly the right kind of wear that you want in a leather jacket.
The board racer pattern always seems a bit out of proportion to me. Size 44 with 23" pit to pit and 17.75" shoulders? Would be a decent shoulder size for a 38/40.
Great looking jackets if they work...
I bought one when I started buying vintage cafe racers off of eBay.
Honestly? I thought it was pretty bad and I couldn't get rid of it fast enough. The seller pics (as always) made it look much better than it was, but the overall cut of the jacket just didn't seem that great, nor did the leather.
Those Apparel Annex jackets look great!
First time I've heard the brand name but a quick look on etsy turns up a pretty gnarly CHP/trucker hybrid. Cool as hell.
