Wow, don't recall seeing a blue Gay Prince, very cool score Dave!
I'm taking hat build #2 out for a spin, this one is based on Bob Dylan's Rolling Thunder Revue hat. I made it out of a nutria/rabbit blend body that I bought from Art Fawcett.
My friend says "that's an ostentatious hat band,"...
Took a second pass at build #2 and calling it finished. The brim re-trim got a little wonky, but it is all a learning experience for me. There is some slight mottling in this Nutria blend felt, but I can live with it. I re-rolled the brim starting with the Randal Alan curler...it puckers the...
38 New Bond was the original location up until 1971. Folks on COW believe that there may have been crossover as stock of liners didn't necessarily correlate with moving dates, but it's almost certainly 71 or earlier.
So now my 'problem' is looking at blocks and trying to imagine what the finished hat will look like. Besides the venerable #52 or #51 blocks, I don't really know any particular number to look for. This size 7 block popped up in an etsy search, and the price was right. Looks like it will make a...
Off the top of my head (and no particular order)

It's a very good curl that they put in those hats. I swear I remember someone (Dinerman maybe?) eons ago posted a picture of a Akubra Sombrero which looked like a ringer for a pre-war Western.
The other standard Lounge rec is the Akubra Federation IV. It also has a dimensional brim and is slightly larger all around than the Temple.

When I think western styled fedora, I think of a 3"+ brim. 2"x 2 3/8" is a little esoteric. A custom hatter would likely be able to duplicate this.
The Stetson Temple is an off the rack hat with a 2 5/8" x 2 3/8" dimensional brim, wide ribbon, and relatively low crown. It's not entirely...
Well, 3thou was vindicated on the folded sweat when Prop Store sold the original.
But that is also a sweat that looks to be otherwise installed correctly.
I'm still not sold on any "cinched" ribbons or extensive mods.
Well, what's your budget?
Do you want something in exactly the same proportions?
What features of this hat do you like? The downturned brim? The width of the ribbon? The size of the brim?
Can you clarify what you mean by "crossover band?"
All the True Blue hats in the fall 2020 catalog (Pure Open Road, Pure Stratoliner, Traveluxe, Belfast) have grosgrain ribbon treatments....ok, I take that back, the Belfast has a felted band.
Curiously, the Lassiter is listed on the catalog as...
Another modern hat offering (I don't consider any of my vintage hats to be particularly exotic). "Less than a dozen" were offered through JJ Hat Center during Stetson's 150th year in 2015, so I'd say that qualifies as rare. Singer Nikki Lane and musician Joe Kwon also have one of these as does...
So, Fargo is currently on season 4. It's on Hulu, so I decided to start at the beginning. And I'm watching this first season and thinking how does this connect to 1950's Kansas? Well, I guess I should have read something about the series, because it's an anthology and each season is stand alone...
Yes, I got about 30 seconds into using the Randal Alan brim curler when I realized the inherent design flaw of it not being an "iron" to speak of. Maybe it takes more finesse and practice, but I suspect a heated metal tool would be superior.
