WOW!!! I am really impressed with LL. I am very surprised we don't see a TON more from these guys. Aren't they one of the oldest leather jacket makers still in business today?!? Almost a must have in any serious collection? Hope to see way more examples (old and new) from this company.
I would have to agree. There is just something about the original. LL is an iconic m/c, RnR, punk LEGEND. I am a huge fan of JL, but owning an original just feels special. I am sure JL could make a great "imitation", but only LL can make an original.
I've had a project going with JL since fall of 2019. Original wait time put the project due after the first of the year 2020. Then my work schedule picked up and told Allan I would get ahold of him when things slowed down (about 3 months). Then covid hit...... Project was revisited and was...
Thanks for the input J. I am getting that feature on my JL. Hopefully it wont be that hard to remove and install the belt.
Edit: Your collection keeps getting bigger and better.
That is good to hear. I hope they don't go back to the days when you had to put a down payment and wait a year and hope you get the right model and color.
Awesome bike and jacket. HD's are becoming harder and harder to find in the rust belt. Most dealers have 3-4 new bikes for sale. The prices are going up. None of the dealers have a price on them. Most are going $5-10k OVER MSRP. My buddy picked up an ultra limited for over $40k out the door. 3...
I did not know this. I just thought sheep was thin, weak, and flimsy. I hope to one day own a Lewis. Seems to be a Rock n Roll and motorcycle icon. I always thought the veg tanned cow was the most desired hide they had to offer.
Thanks for the great review. I really hope to see more LL's pop up...
I had no idea Shinki was this thick. I thought it came in at around 2.5-3oz.
I thought the PER line of Schott was more fashion oriented. I had no idea it was that heavy duty. That is an excellent jacket you have there. Please don't sell.
I weighed my 2 perfectos the 618HH size 46 comes in...
Thanks for your first hand insight Bfd. I am thinking you are right. Hope you can get another bike soon. Prices around these parts are high and bikes are scarce.
Well said Ton. I have come to that conclusion as well. I would still like to see a Fields, Thedi, or a Japanese leather put through the ringer and see what comes out. Hard to do with some of the price tags as stated.
Your E is on another level. It's one of the best around. It did not live it's...
I am glad I am not the only one. lol. I don't think I have that many more HARD miles in me to really put this Schott to the test. I wish I would have bought it when I was 22 years old and got my first motorcycle (1980 superglide)
Another problem is, jackets rarely fit a person for their whole...
Sorry for the drunken post last night. lol. I was just thinking about this 618. It has a few design flaws, but overall makes for a great m/c jacket, for the most part in the $700 price range ( you can usually find 10-15% off). The hardware is tough, the main zipper is rated for m/c use, stiching...
Saturday night and I'm drunk with my friends (you guys). This Schott 618 seriously rocks as a motorcycle jacket. I would put it against any Shinki for M/C use. $700 vs $2000. Are you gonna patch up a Shiki or a Schott? Ride in the the rain? Schott vs Shinki for m/c use?
After I break in my 618 a little more, I want to send it out and get a few inside pockets added and the snap added to the belt. Then it will be time for a few patches to get sewn on.:)
Congratz on your jacket Jin! Looks like a beauty. We all know the fit will be spot on (but please post pics anyways, lol) The leather looks awesome on yours and Mrfrown. I really think Horween can compete with any other company in the world including the Italians and Japanese.
