Not exactly a hat, but for some of the other Stetson Stratoliner fans here who might appreciate it, I stumbled across this on flea bay and just couldnt resist... A Philadelphia Stetson Stratoliner advertising matchbook! Too Cool! Thinking maybe I could fold it under the ribbon on mine and wear...
Nice... I changed one of my OR from cattlemans crease to something real similar... like it a lot better. Have done that on a couple Cowboy to Fedora conversions and they look WAYYYY better
Im really thinking I may look for a nice Milan or Hemp in a sand or light tan color. I LOVE the look of that weave. I usually roll with a 2-1/2 to 2-3/4 brim, but Ive got a couple of 2-1/4" brims that Im real fond of
Just for info... 3 of the 4 Temples are way softer than my Stratoliner ( the carbon is basically new and still has a bit of body to it). My two Akubra StyleMasters have just a hair firmer hand to the felt, and the brim binding allows a little lower brim maintenance but I thinbk they are almost...

Ive been thinking about a big 8 gal stainless cooking pot Ive got out in the garage. Too big to use on my stovetop, ( prob have to heat on the side burner of my propane grill outside) but it might be perfect for dying efforts
Thanks! I ve learned over time that you almost have to know exactly what dye was used on a fabric because of the risk of stripping out most of the dye ( Ive turned faded black silk shirt to a powder blue with bright white threads lol). Im of the opinion that some standard liquid dyes will...
After reading about stetson and resistol powdered dyes running off and on for years, I finally had a bit of an experience recently. A used hat was filthy and had a couple large oily stains, so it got partially disassembeled, and a gas bath to clean. (probably should have FULLY dissassembeled...
Time to give the nice hats a rest...Showing one of the rescued "Mutts" a little love this morning. Not really sure exactly this poor little used and abused thing started out as,because there were no tags or labels left. The sweatband is marked Stetson Soverign, and it has a wide edge binding...
