Thanks!! Yes. It does.. I find the color to difficult to describe. It does look brown. Given the age of the piece, it's difficult to tell the color. Vintage ribbon colors are a challenge for me. But it works!
...And this one makes number 7! Homburgs are definitely growing on me! Knox Superfine. 3 inch brim ( 2 1/2 out to curl), dark Navy, 5 5/8 crown...(sigh). Still in process of cleaning and reshaping the curl. Widest brim and tallest crown of the ones I own.
Thanks so much for the possible lead...I'll do some research too! Obviously, there were an unlimited hatters during the 40s-50s - known and unknown! Couldn't resist the price and the apparent quality!
Recent addition to growing Homburg collection. Simply named "Custom Made." Reedless sweatband. Gonna do some research as to company history. Historians welcome to chime in!
Recent promo purchase from eBay. It's called the Highman made by Stetson for Miller Brothers Hats. Crown 5 1/2 open. Brim 2 3/4. Felt is Western stiff but smooth hand and steam bashed. It's been a while since a 'new' purchase.
Thanks! Not to worry! I'll keep you in mind!! :) Didn't think it would fit properly as it's much closer fit than my CDBGG which is the same size but fits quite loosely. Go figure.
The R.M. Williams Akubra. Silverbelly. Unworn (although purchased as 'used'). Hand-flanged and bashed. Will have it professionally flanged soon. The hand is straight up 'Aussie' needing a bunch of steam and patience. Quite different feel from my CDBGG as the felt is more Winter weight. Here now...
