Do either/both of you think it was mostly a seasonal thing?
Do you think they wore the beret over top of or instead of the orthodox headwear for warmth during the colder months?

Oh, my friend! You should try what I do for a living.
You're selling things. You're dealing with the public. Anytime you deal with the public, you should expect to have to repeat yourself constantly and defend your stance and decisions (in this case, your prices).

Very informative. Thanks!
Those look like some very large berets. Perhaps they're not much larger than current military berets and my eyes are tricking me.

Takes me back. As a (troubled) teen, I had a mentor named, Jake. He was a self employed welder, mechanic, carpenter, plumber, handyman. He ALWAYS wore one of those caps. His looked a bit more "lighthearted". IIRC, his was polka dotted.

Something like that, I wonder.
When diverticulosis flares up and becomes inflamed, we call it diverticulitis. Whichever name they use, the condition is the same. Unfortunately, it's becoming increasingly more common.

It's fashionable for the whole world to hate the USA (after they've taken whatever assistance we've provided, of course), but this is a hat forum. Let's keep the national hate to a minimum. I won't bash your country and you can abstain from bashing mine.
Berets are good looking and some...
Well, that's a lot of leather. Probably more than one animal's worth so I'm guessing any one you find is going to be on the high end.
You might try Filson. I think I remembered they had some leather bags and luggage a few years ago. Traditional styling. I have one of their heavy canvas and...
Yup. Kind of a chimney of sorts. The cooler breeze comes in under the brim and the warmer air vents out through the top.

Looks like a nice, modern upgrade. Just please don't wear your beret like that. That looks really sloppy. Please shape it properly.
A good shave and wet shape takes a beret from a wool pizza to a crown any commando would be proud of.

Question for y'all (I can say "y'all" in this thread. It must be allowed).
What about campaign hats?
I don't have one but I admired the "round browns" my drill sergeants wore and I think Roosevelt looked pretty badass in one--as well as Canada's RCMP (they look very badass in them too).
