It's more the fact that most of Australia (along the coasts) rarely get cold and dry enough to wear HH.
I find goat feels less warm/doesn't trap humidity/breathes better than horse in the environment I'm in
That's why I love the brewer's tails you Sweds made..... lightweight and breathable and...
Mate you're in Queensland..... this thing will be WAAAAAY too much insulation up there since you guys never have winter..... just a uncomfortable humid Spring
I love the look of horse but I've only got a window of a fees weeks per year where it's cold enough to wear it without feeling like I'm in a personal sauna suit.....
I've got a Aero Highwayman that was from the "Connelly Era" and I've never been afraid to wear it in a downpour.....granted I don't actively seek a storm, but I've never once worried about water stains because it's a dark colour and the quality you're paying for means the jacket shouldn't have...
And I'm definitely not a fan of the "sausage skin" fit that seems to be back in fashion.....
I like a trim fit (comes with riding motorcycles and the idea that it will stick to you in a sliding accident) but when I feel like I'm being restricted in movement then it's time to move it on...
Ahhh well I ride motorcycles so it's one thing that carries over to my other jackets.....I need a centerline pleat/gusset back to feel comfortable wearing a jacket.
I've got a fantastic LW A-1 HH jacket but I instantly regretted buying it as soon as I tried it on.....it's a chore to do anything...
I've actually got a fantastic looking jacket made my Aero Sydney with Aero zippers on it!
The jacket design ended up being used by both Australia Post (headache inducing vomit yellow)and our MP's on motorcycle duty (baby poo green and "Poo Boot" brown)
Thankfully my jacket is in a more...
I love the look of the pattern but I'd never be able to wear something like that without a Centerline gusset back or atleast the "V Cuts" on the hem so it doesn't bind up when you're getting in and out of a car
My brother in law has picked up one of these from Madera (since he knew I love collecting police jackets)
Old Portuguese army jacket that has a definite olive green to the leather.....
Apparently they're not that common but definitely not rare, though I'm not sure if the colour will grow on me...
My favourite hide is goatskin
It just feels good to wear in the usually hotter and humid weather we have in my part of Australia....even in winter it rarely dips below 65 percent humidity.
I have a minor love affair with the Swedish goatskin brewer's tails jackets of the 40-50's though my...
A silly question but how long in the torso should a Cal Leathers/CHP jacket go to?
I've got one and it sits ALOT higher on my back than my cafe racer and Perfecto/Brando do......but the front pushes on the tops of my thighs while sitting down?
I know that Cal Leathers were all "made to order"...
Well considering that 90% of the world's goatskin comes from Pakistan (and many "high brand" companies buy in bulk from Pakistan factories)
it shouldn't be surprising that some no name factory is flogging off production overruns of different companies products
I've got a lovely Cossack/A-1...
I know it's been a month ago but I will tell you that A2 is the best Aussie made you can find mate!
I've still got my one that was "custom made" for me years ago when I was riding a desk at Defence Square in Sydney (Christie's is right next door to the place)
Rumour mill says they had a copy of...
No worries mate
I knew in my heart that a post so old was long gone but since you were from the Land of "everything wants to poison you" and it was Swedish goatskin I thought I'd ask
My 50's Swedish goatskin dispatch rider coat, which came the day after I broke my bloody arm (hence the non-wear pictures).
It's utterly amazing on me (I usually have to get "custom" in the arms since I'm built like a orangutan)
70 year old goatskin means it's finally got...
Maybe I just got a 2nd quality Thedi (which I doubt after waiting 14 months for)
If I was to buy a Thedi again I'd just get a Aero instead....cheaper and the wait list is a few months faster
