It's similar enough to my jacket......though the LW I had was the Suburban.
I find the build quality of American jackets inferior to most European makers, both vintage and modern, and few come close to Japanese attention to detail.
But since most here are incredibly protective of the "Golden...
And yet is the same level in tailoring and stitch quality as RMC (NZ) and LW
If it's Chinese like someone else has said.......well the Yank companies should throw in the towel!
And yet the leather is amazing compared with Taylor's and Windward ?
If this is Chinese made, then they've beaten the Yanks at their own game.....hell it feels like a LW or RMC (NZ) in terms of fit and stitch quality
I prefer brass because it doesn't chip off like nickel can (the few nickel studded things I've had scratch off to reveal brass anyway, so I just cut out the middleman)
I've got afew "American" leather jackets but I much prefer Sweden/Switzerland leather coats because of their use of goatskin in most of their military/police coats.
The exception to my dislike of horsehide is this Buco "Trojan D Pocket "
If I wasn't a extremely tall and stocky built bloke I'd offer to buy it off you.....
Thankfully I've got Shawn making me a copy of a old 50's Brewer's coat in a similar goatskin
I know I'm a year late almost......but you said this "came from Australia "
You didn't happen to buy it from a bloke on Fleabay that came from South Hobart, Tasmania by any chance?
If you did, you've got fleeced by a prick that "tag swaps" jackets unfortunately
This style of jacket was quite...
I tend to wear a Cal Leather horsehide "CHP" or a Trojan (has the BIG D-pocket on the front with a intimidating collar) when it's under 28 Celsius and never had anyone try anything.......but then again I'm a 6'5 shaved headed bloke that looks like the person who usually starts bar fights
Look the thing 5* gets right is COPYING an existing pattern.
They ain't designers!
They ain't tailors!
They are engineers!
They can pull something apart and copy the individual sections like an engineer does
They can make blueprints. from those individual bits and replicate them until the sun...
God that ProTech!.....
I'd seriously kill for one of those D Pockets because it's bigger than the usual I'm seeing on fleaBay (mostly Japanese sellers flogging 36's and 38's)
I don't know what the US ones are like but my dad's old "COA Order" one was far too much for Australian humidity levels
How anyone wore these in Asian countries is beyond me
If you're interested in "unique jackets" you really need to look at Australian makers up till the early 80's.....
We had many different companies that made motorcycle jackets as well as "sporting goods" that were pretty high quality and usually had soft wool (merino?) tartan linings.
My...
Unfortunately I'm not local to the area (was in the city for a hospital appointment)
I'm back down there on Fri afternoon and I'll try to take better pictures of it as well as bring my tailor's tape
Haha well it's going for $225AUD which isn't too bad with the exchange rate
Add another $75aud for postage and it could be yours ;)
It could do with a clean under the throat snaps (it's been folded over and I didn't want to risk cracking the leather since it felt a bit dry) but apart from that...
Oh I thought you were the Brisbane bloke.......still shearling lining is unfortunately not that practical in Australia due to the combination of higher temperatures and the obnoxious humidity we catch off the coast
