While true but he did have an influence on the floppy looking fedora that everyone has come to love. Floppy creases and tops. He rarely wore anything where the crease were steamed stiff and perfect like the modern hats.
To be honest he didn't wear one just for the sake of television, movie or...
Jackson is like one of us and he actually loved the hat where other famous celebrities at the time didn't show that love or it wasn't documented. It was part of fashion and once the hat was gone they also ditched them. Jackson has worn fedora for 3 plus decades when people then, and now, still...
Watch the channel Grit. They show old western movies and old movies from50’s and 50’s in general. You hat lovers will see a variety of hats.
Of course we can’t talk about hats without mentioning Michael Jackson. His love for the hat is iconic.
How do we really suppose to wear these hats?
Just started collecting and I have three hats so far. The one that claims to be my exact head size is a little big so the top of my head hits the crease.
So my next two hats I bought a smaller size and it is a tad big but it is ok. Fits my head...
Thanks for the info.
I think what I like about the Bogart is that it looks different compared to the modern lines. It stands out. I'm not sure because the crown looks taller and in the picture they creased it differently than your normal center crease and pinch.
Then again it looks like your...
I'm no expert but perhaps it is easier and cheaper to make hats closer to a target market than it is to export them there.
Quality may or may not be an issue but like all companies, they hope the consumer doesn't notice.
I don't really want to buy a modern hat due to price and collectors disliking the current quality but I really have my eye on The Bogart Cut 1.
It is a beauty and I hope there is a vintage equivalent out there.
As someone new to this world I like vintage hats more and when buying I always ask the seller to measure the length and width. I've already bought 3 hats and each hat in same size according to the tag and all fit perfectly except one.
From an appearance standpoint the older hats look like they have a taller crown and I think it looks better than today's 4 or 4.5'' crowns.
That is why I asked how can I determine actual measurements.
Is it universally common to measure the crown up to a certain height?
New guy here and bought my first hat in September and bought another 2 this month. Not really into the newer hats and prefer older hats in what seems to be taller crown hats to me.
Grew up loving Indiana Jones but didn't think anything of hats. Hit my teens and was a huge fan of Michael...
My biggest score is my first hat....I was going back and forth on size and finally measured my head. I have a big head and got a practically brand new Stetson Temple, no flaws at all, for $60.
Got a Brent Hat for Montgomery Ward for $38 and it was also practically brand new.
I wore both so...
Planning to dabble in the world of new or vintage Borsalino but have some questions.
Which model is 'THE' Borsalino to add to a collection? Is it the Como?
Do they make 2'' brims? I find at 2'' it is the best combination for my stature.
Thank you in advance.
I purchased a hat and it has The Ridgewood by Mallory lining but it is not a selected by Sam Snead model. Perhaps pre-Snead or post-Snead. I don't know what this one is but I am familiar with the Snead ones. I thought The Ridgewood model was for the Snead line?
It says: Mallory Fifth Avenue...
