JL are good with owning their mistakes and provide free adjustments to custom made-to-measure jackets.
@Canuck Panda do you have any information on how Masaye HH compares to horween vermont?
Well, I sent him detailed requirements and he, I guess ball parked it according to what he had available. Great jacket. Bummer for me, hurrah for my son
Damon, that jacket was about 88% you. I'm not a professor like @MrProper, but I think the needed alterations would've been minor to have any affect in the general look and fit of the jacket. To be honest with you, if we liked cafe racer type jackets (and the shoulders were wider), I would've...
I will definitely ask them about that. The details! I'm going full @MrProper on my orders and using your data/pictures. I want my next 5* to be perfect. I'm not worried about Johnson because we get at least two fittings before the final go.
That's good to know. Thank you. It seems that I've got a bunch of changes to ask of them. It's ok though because they said it'll take a few months and three fittings for the car coat.
But I'm really itching to get that cossack from 5*, before they jack their prices up.
I'm thinking about a cossack from 5*. But they've been ghosting the hell out of me. I send them three email in the last 10 days, no response. I'm starting to believe they don't want my business. @Canuck Panda, @MrProper and @ton312 are keeping that place afloat.
I've got a 3.5oz CXL HH car coat for my son, a 4oz+hh M200/highwayman style and I'm looking to order a button down like the aero Maxwell in bison. That's gonna be our stash for the next 12 months. All black color
Johnson Leathers also have a 5oz/2mm CXL HH. The last jacket I got from them is 4+oz ~2mm. But it's about three times what 5* charges. So, one has to ask themselves, is the difference in workmanship and customer care worth this price gap?
I'm going there on Friday to discuss details. If Steve is not available or the wait time is more than a month, I've found a backup place that, according to them, have experience in leather modifications. Getting a jacket right is an adventure. I am already compiling my pdf requirements document...
Yeah, that's the best situation. I've got to do much more research around here in the DMV region for leather repair shops, because although rare, I've found some good deals on ebay for "pre-owned" jackets that would fit me approximately but I just don't wanna pull the trigger. Waist and sleeves...
