That does look a bit amateurish. My experience with them though is all positive. The stitching was great, and the whole construction was fantastic. Aero, Vanson or Schott may be your best bet for $700-$1050
That's a good idea! Get a cheapo fit jacket first. Unfortunately I didn't think of that so my fit 5* jacket is my first 5* HH jacket. But the only maker I've dealt with who provides a sort of bespoke jacket with their "basted fitting" jacket they send, is Johnson Leathers
Gents just lay off the goat, premium or otherwise. Go with HH, steerhide. And honestly after I saw and touched jackets made out of buffalo and deer hides, I was really impressed. But 5* does not offer these "exotic" choices.
For more comfortable movement you might want to ask for bi-swing back. It is more functional than gussets. Some people like the way gussets look, I prefer full action bi-swing back.
@Canuck Panda here are the pictures I received from Shawn, of the trucker I ordered but I went with the 1.4mm HH. It is just like yours but with buttons.
I thought Taylor jackets are made in Pakistan but are sold from Tullahoma. I've got one from when they were made in Tennessee. Which Taylor pattern did you get? Did you order through their site or called them up?
The horween HH I got from JL smells "heavenly" LW hh faint "heavenly" smell but "heavenly" nonetheless.
Now risking of diverting the thread, @Canuck Panda what do you think of Simmons Bilt products?
That's good to know. Thank you.
Definitely I will be much more accurate with my next adventure with 5*, as this whole exchange has been quite educational.
I don't think there is an exact mapping of body to jacket measurements or jacket to jacket unless you send them a similar jacket that fits you just like you want it and they use it as a guide. @Canuck Panda has done a pretty good job mapping his body measurements to the jacket and his process...
I'm a bit confused, if the body measurements are a particular set of numbers, 5-6 inches larger is more than accounting for some allowed roominess. Well. anyway the jacket is on it's way according to them and so I'll figure out how the correspondence body->jacket measurements translate. Fingers...
Question to the 5* sizing aficionados: If a body measurement is x what would the garment measurement be?
Example: Chest circumference 52" taken with just a t-shirt on. How do the good people at 5* translate that to the jacket chest measurement?
Your input is greatly appreciated as the jacket...
