Those aren't chukkas by any stretch of the imagination, but if the average person probably doesn't know what a chukka actually is I wouldn't expect a person who has severe dementia and rarely knows what's going on to know what a Chukka is either.
I don't wear a suit and would never wear footwear...
Well I'm not looking to spend big bux on an accurate ww2 repro or anything, so I'm not sure what's out there that's considered better and is as affordable.
I wasn't sure how I felt about the new cooper A2 at first, but I've had a few mornings to wear it and it's really grown on me.
It's really nice to be wearing a leather jacket without feeling like I'm wearing a leather jacket.
I have a jacket thats more comfortable open than closed which I don't find ideal, and the CMPD surplus is comfortable either way except when sitting down but thankfully that one has a two way zipper I can open from the bottom when sitting
This jacket is comfortable opened or closed sitting or...
They might be a litte bit, because the measurements check out aside from of course the shoulders.
I am just wearing a T shirt under it which is something I basically do when I can just barely get away with wearing a jacket, so the fit that I normally like is based on layering.
Now that really makes me happy with how this jacket fits.
I completely forgot Steve wore an A2 in the great escape, there were too many great actors like him James Garner Charles Bronson and Donald Pleasance in the movie for his jacket to capture my attention.
There's nothing in that picture...
Thanks for the reassurance.
Btw the pocket flaps on your A2 are awesome.
I didn't pay attention to mine when I bought it, and when I started doing a little research afterwards I read about how the Coopers had a boring square flap compared to others.
Apparently not all of them because I was...
My Cooper A2 arrived this morning and I'm wearing it a bit while I can.
I love the comfort and the color and am happy with the overall dimensions aside from the shoulder width ( I started a fit check thread ).
I don't know if that'll be enough to have me seeking something with a better cut...
So how bad or how acceptable is it ?
To my eye the only problem area is the shoulders.
For comparison here is my CMPD surplus which I consider a good fitting jacket.
The Cooper is 3" broader in the shoulders, sleeve length is equal ( shorter if excluding the knitts ) body length is equal...
Thank you for the info.
I may have been a victim of opinions from people judging Avirex solely based on bad versions.
It's easy to forget that a lot of people have specific standards for them, and it seems that many A2's will get a bad rap for not fitting like or closely resembling a ww2...
Yeah there's not much wool over 24oz available today, I think Bemidji and Johnson may offer or have until very recently offered their hooded hunting coats in 26oz but most wool these days is much more loosely milled.
Even by the 70's woolrich's stuff was getting pretty loosely milled with more...
By most accounts I can find the Avirex A2's are said to be mediocre and the Coopers to be better as well as actually being a USGI contracted item, but for some reason the Avirex A2's tend to command often 2x more than the Coopers on Ebay and It has me wondering why.
Is Avirex just a brand for...
I scored this 50's Woolrich 503 off Ebay back in January and it was hard to wear anything else, this is an awesome piece that quickly became one of my favorites.
The storm cuff knitts are in excellent condition, and it has just a few spots of well done subtle darning to keep it honest.
Yeah I knew it was a civilian piece, but had just been contemplating it for the price of entry
I have been looking on Ebay and discovered that issue G1'S can be had for about $150 shipped, so I will be on the lookout for one in my size.
Right now I'm just waiting for my cooper A2 so I can...
I think that was a " better " earlier cooper than the one on Ebay I was contemplating, that is to say I assume they only got worse.

This just has the looks of a fairly modern civilian label, and I would not be surprised if it's a fairly low end jacket...
If one is living paycheck to paycheck maybe they shouldn't be a clothing/ footwear enthusiast.
You don't have to spend a whole paycheck, just save to buy the best you can.
I don't think Jim Green is really at risk of that.
Viberg shifted to target those who could afford their boots, while Jim Green is simply leveraging the value proposition of their products to expand but not completely move into other markets.
They still thrive on making footwear for blue collar...
