I carry this little brass AAA lumintop light.
It's been in my pocket everyday for almost 3 years now without issue, and I've dropped it more times than I can count.
At about 80 lumens on high it's not crazy bright, but it's simple / reliable with only 3 brightness modes, and the extremely...
I just remembered about the inner pocket this vest has on the right side, I wasn't sure whether it was factory/ original or not because " leather odyssey "apparently had the ability to tailor and customize things for the customer, but I believe it is factory because the leather and stitching is...
Maybe.
The smell is actually not as strong as the impression I got when it first hit me really, I'll bet if I give it the leaf blower treatment it'll fade a ton and eventually just go away all together.
That " LEATHER ODDESY " vest just arrived, and I'm quite happy.
The fit is excellent, quality seems great, condition is excellent, and the leather has some awesome graining to it. For $37 shipped this was quite a winner in my book.
It does have one minor issue that I'm on the fence about...
I don't know how long this weather is supposed to last, but it's only going to be 70°f today so I'm wearing the orange label cooper A2.
I've got a leather vest arriving today that I'll throw on, probably under this jacket till it actually hits 70° later.
The green stuff always seems to command quite a premium, that's why I had finally broke down and ordered the Johnson woolen mills that I have.
It's definitely nowhere near as good as the pre 70's wool, but I've been happy with it.
I just received this Pendleton vest that I snagged for $15 shipped on Ebay.
There's nothing wrong with it and I'm happy with the fit, but I am extremely glad that I only paid $15 for it because I didn't know that it was essentially a suit vers made of a fairly thin wool flannel weight fabric ...
This is one of those situations where I won't really know how I feel until I can wear it, so I'm just going to do what I can with it and see what happens.
For the $50 I spent I think I can use it as a learning experience/ experiment.
If I wasn't in a small rural town and didn't have to travel to...
Google sucks these days so I'm not turning up very much at all, and nothing remotely close, but of those 3 mentioned brands the only similarities noticed were from Uber.
Get interested, because the reproductions just aren't the same.
Either things are tweaked / changed, you're getting similar quality for more in an inauthentic imported jacket, or you're paying way more for something very premium.
Get a good condition interwar m-65 from the mid -late 70's ,you...
Just go surplus, most are cleaned...etc and graded on condition where the worst ones are the cheapest...etc
For USGI anything original is always better because it's the real deal, most of the stuff isn't typically anything special so being original USGI is what's cool about it.
At least that's...
18.5 PTP so I guess a size 36, even though that's technically a 37.
I thought the buckles were a nice touch too.
Thanks for the leads I'll have to look into those makers and see what comes up, I'd love to find another with the deerskin in better condition.
I think the wool plaid side with...
Is there any harm to conditioning the leather when it still smells a bit , any risk of permanently trapping the odor in or something ?
Normally what I do is leave the piece hanging outside in the sun and wind for an afternoon, then take a leaf blower and run high volumes of air through it to...
I'm hoping so.
As far as cleaning I believe those burnt looking areas are just some severe darkening of the leather that'll never come off and there are definitely some stains that may never come off at this point but the general dirt and grime should come off okay.
I may try some chamberlains...
Well the good news is that I felt brave enough to put this musty mildew smelling thing on for just a second and it seems like it'll fit quite well if it turns out to be wearable.
There's also no actual signs of mold or mildew that I can see, it just has the smell which the sunlight and heavy...
