These are true, but dangerous words. I have quite a few jackets that I admire more than wear.
I love the old Florsheim Imperials, they conjure up images of American businessmen in the 50s bustling around New York in suits and fedoras… I have a vintage pair that I occasionally wear. I’ve seen images of shell cordovan ones still going strong 30-40 years later… I don’t think the new ones...
With my kids, we used to put older toys in the garage for 6months before we’d donate them. If they ever asked “where did ___ go?” We would pull it out for them and reset the clock.
You might give this one a pause until Spring. If you don’t wear it this Fall/ Winter… out with it.
…ummm, yeah, Ken and family came back…and many patterns have been updated. They now offer many great medium weight hides, and lots of us prefer them to the heavy stuff of yore.
Now that I have a jacket without a liner, I can say that pocket bags are an issue. If the jacket is designed to be un-lined, hopefully the maker has figured out how to hide or minimize hanging pieces of extra fabric. I don’t mind the feel of the roughout side on my skin.
