Hi, I recently purchased this jacket (lightly used) for USD $640. It is a nice jacket and the leather is beautiful IMO. That said, this thing retails for $1680, which is way too much. At that price point, I'd have a custom trucker made by Johnsons for likely hundreds less.

You're right, it probably is still niche. The products I like frequently veg-tan, but that's a small piece of what's being produced.
I'd be curious to hear how Horween's sales have trended over the decades with various fads.
Great point. I wonder what tanneries like Horween produced in the 70's? I'm sure there was still a need for cxl in shoes, but the veg tan thing has exploded in recent years it seems.
