@Bill Hughes - That is a great hat and you wear it well (which further disproves the aforementioned "fashion advice.")
@GHT - I'm sorry. There MUST be standards! The color of toilet paper matters... (in this case, brown is never a good idea.)
Thanks guys for the responses. I do like a thread...
It could be a thing younger people tried to stir up so us old folks wouldn't go around looking so dang suave in a brown felt hat.
The youths only wish they could pull off the bowler and t-shirt combo.
I was going to post this in the "Ask a question" thread but this is a help request more than a question. I read somewhere that gray hair and brown hats don't go together. I am ordering a whiskey colored hat and I have salt and pepper (brown) hair.
I tried to look for images of brown and whiskey...
This thread deserves a little love. I put a bit of a different dent in my crash-test Catera.
I don't know if there is a name for this style. If not... "7 dent" "Horse Nose" "Six Shooter"
This is one interesting thread. It has wandered off, and back on, topic in a decent manner. I hope it doesn't fall completely off topic into politics and bickering and wind up getting locked. So, now to turn back into the wind... I guess my upper limit was what I paid for a Major Moore Buckaroo...

I went through all of the Miller-Stockman thread. This ad from 1931 claims the Big Four was around since 1891 (40 years) and was also referred to as the Big Cord.
No real idea when this style disappeared as I don't know how complete the catalog postings were for the years in the thread. The...
Does anyone know anything about the (Stetson?) Big Four Hat? @Robieman posted a replica he had Major Mike build. That is pretty much what I'm imagining my next hat to be. Any insight would be appreciated.
Is that beaver brown (or whiskey?) or nutria brown? I'm not sure how accurate the color is in the picture.
Either way, looking forward to more pictures when it arrives.
You can feel the soft finish of that hat in the picture alone. I actually just got queued up in line for a hat with Michael. This does not help me be patient!
A quick question about the Vintage Finish - Would that vintage finish on a western hat still allow shaping a brim or would it be to soft to hold a roll?
Thanks.
