Positive John ... was purchased directly from Eastman with this spec. ( pm me and I can give you the original owners details - who is a volunteer engineer at Duxford - and the original purchase details etc ...I also bought his A-10 gloves :D ) and you are correct it is one of the earlier...
I have to say I haven't had any problem with this goat ( in 3 months) ... but if you expect it to age like a fine wine, you'll be dissapointed it's about as durable as diamond :) It does crease and soften a lot but doesn't show anywhere near the character or graining of veg tanned steer etc...
My final .... "I had been after one of these for a while" ... the original inspiration was this jacket :
from Rin Tanaka's book. The plan was to produce a "replica" .. as it turns out I didn't like some of the features e.g. the pocket rivets and some of the features I wanted didn't...
Another one I had been after for a while ...
This was a limited run in the mid 2000's I believe and I swithered at the time as to wether to get one new and never did. This came up on ebay from a guy in Dorset and I jumped on it. I had AL fit my nametag and I was good to go. The "bars"...
Bought this on the sale pages .. it's ex Stuarts of London and had black collar studs ( as per the A2) to keep a neat collar profile.
The Alexanders Black Goat is FAB and nicely grained but ( liek all goat) unbelievably durable. I hadn't realised the Dakota had a pronounced V front like the...
2005 ANJ-4 from Eastman with Seal Warhorse Facings. This is my second Eastman ANJ-4 ( the other being a Fenland One which is a very different sheepskin)
No modifications other the Warhorse ... pretty much a stock Eastman .... in terms of the fleece the coating they use on this is more mat and...
I had been after one of these for a while ... for those that are aware of the ( now closed) Fenland Sheepskin Tannery, they produced possibly the finest sheepskin for jackets that I am aware of. I have an Eastman ANJ-4 in the same hide and it is wonderful stuff with a very soft hand, amazing...
Many may think what they want about Stu ...... but that man can make a mean jacket ! Looks substantial and from Stu you'd expect nothing else. My Suburban has the heavy satin lining and it works so well especially with a shirt underneath which other materials can grab on.
Looks like the...
Some others for comparison
Button Cuffs ( all measured circumfrenc at top of cuff)
Aero HB Deluxe (44") 12.5" - mid 2000's
Alexander Dakota (42") 12.25"
Alexander Simmons Bilt (42") 12.25"
Non Button Cuffs ( measured at midpoint of cuff 2.5" up from bottom of sleeve)
Aero VDR...
Remind me again which City you are from ............ or is that Glasgow, Kentucky, or Glasgow, Montana :)
Well said Chambois ... next time I'm in town I'll make sure I pop in and say Hi ( might not buy anything though ... unless it's on sale :D ).
We're now into analysing Schitzo /...
No need for expose HD .. your allegiances are well known and that's OK :D .... no persecution or mandatory disclosure just honesty.
I really like the Dark Seal Liberty ... and it suits the A-2 REALLY well ... with a little bit of wear I think it would be amazing and it doesn't look like...
More mis truths and assumptions ...
1. I have never said I buy smarter ... Cheaper maybe, more often maybe and more often than not ... Not directly. Not sure if that's "smarter" or not HD
2. There are some very partisan posters on here ... IMHO sometimes it isn't helpful ... I don't...
I forgot we were children .. I've been called a cock on here ... I've even had physical threats on here .... but then I've had many more supportive PM's than the negative posts. You are right we will not agree .... perhaps I just don't place as much relevance/ importance on either internet...
He's a jacket manufacturer .... Aero do it, Alexanders do it, Eastman do it, BK do it ...... I've yet to come across a jacket manufacturer who doesn't believe their product is better than their competition and comment accordingly ( either in forum or FTF).
There are very few exceptions IMHO...
Cutting one paragraph from your VERY long post doesn't mean that's what you did ... you did much more than simply ask a poster to define their bias .... :D
Re. the FB post .. that's your view and you're entitled to it .... not sure who it offended ( you clearly ) .... TFL ???? I'm sure...
My Aero Halfbelt ( non button) and Halfbelt Deluxe ( button) are almost identical Bretron ( give or take 1/8" ) .. .equally my AL Dakota (buttoned) and my Roadster ( non buttoned) are similar - the buttoned cuff on the Dakota is 1/8" wider than the Roadster) ... all 4 jackets are similar in...
I agree .. but simply because a disgruntles ex TFL'er desides to post on their facebook page doesn't make them a bad company ... or call into question their ethics. As a consumer I have NEVER had an issue dealing with BK they have always treated me fairly and delivered my product on time and to...
But Superfluous .. that's not what you did ..... and it's not what you said. Chambois has posted their position though and that's good.
for the record ( to correct the mistruths and assumptions):
1. I did not invent the term "Aero Fanboy" it predates my post by several years.
2. I have...
Sadly not an uncommon tactic ... undermine and discredit ( based on either mistruth, assumption or suposition ) then malign the poster and drag the thread to closeur thus disbarring any repost from the maligned poster and leaving the mistruth out there :(
For the record ( and having been in...
